Re: create gallery using existing photos from other galleries
I'm hoping (tongue-sorta-in-cheek) that the reason you haven't had anything but a unidirectional communication with Smuggy is that they are busily working on releasing a full-blown Virtual Gallery functionality of their own. . Since my early results with ttljournal were somewhat hampered by the fact that I did not have all… -
Total Noob here...
Hi ALL! My friend Zac told me to check out this site as I got a new camera and have no IDEA what any of the settings doo... I've gotten pretty good with Point and shoot cameras so this past week I purchased an Olympus E-Volt E500 2lense kit... About all I have figured out how to do with it is manual focus and zoom and take… -
Re: Download All With SmugVault?
Thanks Ryan. Yes, that is what one would assume, but that is not what happens for me. It appears it will only include the JPG files in the download for a gallery that has a combination of JPG and RAW, and will not generate any emails for the galleries with only Raw Files. I have run tests on the following 3 galleries and… -
Re: How to get soft light with flashes?
What the OP wants is a light tent. One can build their own or buy them. A little 1/2 inch PCV pipe to build a frame and then cover it on four sides with white cotton or nylon sheeting to shoot your flashes through to light the subjects. I would suggest making a 1 meter square frame with 1/2 or 3/4 inch PVC pipe, and then… -
Harsh Light and Lazy Slackers
I took these photos on a trip last September to Smith Rock, Oregon, of a group of friends doing some "slacklining". I kept nearly 200 photos, and a lot of them worked pretty well, but I had a real problem with the harsh light washing out the colors. These are a few of the better ones I managed to save with some work on the… -
Re: Color Management ??
She is standing in the shade in a forest - I would expect blue, green tones in this environment. Sky yields blue light ( as in shade ) and green leaves filter in the green light from sunlight. That is how the scene looks, what you are searching for is how you want it to look. I prefer the second image. When I read the pixel… -
Canon's HEIF Implementation
This is a thread to discuss how Canon has utilized the HEIF image file format for their recent cameras. Other manufacturers also have products with HEIF files, but please keep this thread focused on Canon cameras. (Feel free to start your own thread to discuss other HEIF related camera manufacturers.) What is the HEIF, aka… -
Re: Time to move on
Actually, I believe him. I was looking into storage costs.... bear with me. Smug uses Amazon S3, and I'm guessing they pay around $0.10 per GB per month. Some professional photographers are INCREDIBLY prolific; Let's say a full time photographer uploads 500 images a week (Easily possible if you're shooting two weddings a… -
Help! 5th grade basketball photos!!!
Ok so I have been using my canon xti for awhile now. I always get good shots and have been shooting weddings and softball for awhile now with no problem. That said.... I used a ef 28-80mm canon lens iso at 1600 i shot in av mode, with no flash and set the fstop as low as I could (3.5...) and I adjusted the white balance to… -
Re: I could use some recommendations
A couple of considerations for a monitor. First - with the Sony A700 (same body I use) you have the option to capture JPEG's in AdobeRGB mode or extract an image from a RAW file in the AdobeRGB color space. If you use AdobeRGB you really should look to a wide gamut monitor but those will run you about $500-600 for a 24…
