Re: Bare bones equipment for weddings/portraits, the role of "second shooter"
A novice with potential-- think bare bones and uber-basic First off, I thank you for your quick and thoughtful responses. I am very impressed with your knowledge base and willingness to help someone that you have never met. You have given me some really great resources to look into and I really appreciate that.… -
Re: A few from my first solo wedding
(Note: I understand this is your first wedding, and before I begin I want to mention that these images are 10X better than MY first wedding. I'm only giving you the tough love treatment because I know that's the only way to get better. Especially when everybody else (no offense yall) seems to be casually patting you on the… -
Re: Lens preference for Disney World? Help!
I love me some f/2.8 or f/1.4 for low-light situations. If you ask me, that's when Disneyland comes alive! But over the years, (passholder) ...I've ventured around D-land with all manner of cameras and lenses, my favorite being my Nikon FM2 and a 24mm and 50mm prime. Manual exposure / focus, but gorgeous colors on some of… -
Re: Is proof delay still unavailible for DDs?
Sure there's always a desire for instant gratification, but there's also the simple need of a digital file which is being hampered down in the current state of things. There's a large segment of customers that want the digital file primarily for publication along with the accompanying license. Of course "now" is always… -
Re: ...im not dying for a photo
Certainly is mate..... Here is todays headlines...(this is quite normal for summer but in winter Funny bit is that our storms are very localised....where my wife works (3 miles as the crow flies) they had ice 2 feet deep & i saw none what-so-ever. I watched a 'super cell' build from 3pm & could not believe it would… -
Re: Why are 50mm lenses so special?
In over 50 years in photography I have never heard a prime lens refferred to as 1x or 2x. 100mm lens for 35mm is a "normal" lens for 6X9 format. It is certainly not a 2x lens. The only use I have ever heard for 1X, 1.4x, 2X, etc is for lens converters. When applied to any focal length lens they multiply the focal length by… -
Re: Pricing Advice! Assignment/Event Type Pricing
HI, I know this is an old post but I'd like to share my experience as a freelance graphic designer and photographer. First of all, there are mainly two kinds of clients in this specific case. The ones who pay almost any reasonable price you ask for, and the ones that want to negotiate a better price. Usually, the second… -
Re: Balkan Express
The Rhine The Rhine and its adjoining areas are dotted with wonderful elements of European history; from the violence and insecurity of its distant feudal past to its more refined elegance which peaked in the late 19th century, but vrutally dissapeared early in the 20th. Mannheim First mentioned in 766 AD, My fair city,… -
Re: How RAW can you go???
Catherine - When you open a RAW image, found in the FILE BROWSER window, you will see a dialogue box that looks like this ... You can see from the title bar at the top that this image came from a Canon 1DMkii .CR2 image - shot at ISO 100 1/250 f5.6 200mm -- Nikon images will read NEF, of course. The color space the image… -
Re: Hockey shots - crtique/advice needed
My thoughts on ice hockey I have been shooting youth hockey for the last four years and it is probably the hardest activity to shoot. Here are my thoughts: - Forget about setting white balance on the camera. As many rinks have the lights that cycle frequency, you will never get consistent shots, even using a custom WB…
