I have the 135 2.0L and I love it. I use it for shooting action (dog sports) in low light. Usually badly lit indoor buildings. I think it would be fine for hockey. I shot with the 28-135 for many years and it is a fine lens. When bought my 5D (before that I shot film), I upgraded to the 24-105L.
