Mini Challenge #220: Into the woods - RESULTS
So, after looking at all the photo's 4 or 5 times my "short list" came relatively quickly, however the final order took a bit more time. In the end I'm not an experienced photo judge so decided to make the final verdict based on gut feel and how close they were to meeting the "brief" for this mini-challenge. Before diving… -

SOLD: Sony F-717 - Whole kit
It's a sad day, but I think it's time to finally part with the ol' Sony. It served me well for a long time. After I upgraded to a DSLR I kept this around for IR shooting. I had intended to mod it for full-time IR but never did. Various accessories going up for sale as well. Would make a great starter kit for someone. You… -

what computer stuff to get?
I have been looking at computers for about a month now. Although I considered a Mac....they were not in strong on the list because my programmer husband knows nothing of them in the software end and doesn't want to learn. And I am so computer stupid its not funny. So I am thinking on getting an HP e9180t. Now I need to… -
Re: Hasselblad Repair
I still have 2 - V-system bodies: Hasselblad 500C and 500CM. They have not required service for 45 years. Hasselblad service and repair is not cheap, but if you care about your equipment a genuine Hasselblad certified shop is recommended. It appears that you are in the US? If so, the current list of dealers is: (Just… -
Re: CRT vs. LCD Monitor
OK.... now we're getting to where I can suggest a monitor. $300 is pretty much the bottom end for a decent LCD monitor with either an IPS or PVA type TFT panel. But there are some good products there that are very usable. In particular, the Dell 2209WA has been getting rave reviews the past year. It is probably the best… -
Re: Why so much?
But I believe very few folks are upgrading from film -> dSLR. I think the far more common move is from digital point-and-shoot -> dSLR in the mistaken belief that they will get better pictures. In reality (or in my initial experience), all they really get is the ability to take the same level of pictures, just faster. In… -
Re: Paper -- luster vs matte and when to use which
17x22 is a frustrating size, IMHO because you have to crop in order to use the 17" side fully. I've been printing 16x24 on 17" roll paper, which leaves 1/2 inch borders on the short side. Then you want 25" long paper. That's what drove me to the InkjetArt MicroCeramic Luster paper. I like Epson's Premium Luster, but why do… -
Re: Does it really matter....
On lenses J: Keep in mind that the D40 can't use all of the same lenses that are available to the others. It's restricted to AF-S lenses (which eliminates almost all of the fast wide, normal, and mid-telephoto primes). H: Here's a recent list (not compiled by me)... From Nikon: WIDE-ANGLE -AF 10.5mm f/2.8G ED . . . $…
