Re: NPR: Photographer Reflects on Jazz Giants, Storm Losses
Steven, I saw this story on tv recently, and it was both fascinating and sad. We all lost a significant part of our history when all his beautiful fiber prints were ruined. These images are such a tremendous record of jazz, an art form that Americans can truly call our own. Unfortunately, jazz music gets lost these days… -
Re: The Sun is My Enemy.
Thank you! Thank you guys for giving me such helpful advice! This has been frustrating me for some time and ruining what could have been some really nice shots. Now I'm going to really show my ignorance....I bought a 5 in 1 but I'm not completely sure how to use it. For example, do you just play around with the positioning… -
Re: Laura in the ruins
I love fashion photography and working with models; it’s something I really miss and need to get back into. From your description of the shoot and the image you present here, it seems like you and your model had a lot of fun. But you wanted a harsh critique, so here goes. To be honest, the first time I saw this image at a… -
Re: Yet ANOTHER Pricing Question
Along with what has already been said....you can always set up private galleries for them to order prints from..... Write contract stating that for $XX.XX client will get my services for.......{most portrait session run min 2 hours....low end here is around $75 for a 2 hour session}........and there will be a private… -
Re: SmugBrowser - Firefox/Flock Extension BETA
How to control number of simultaneous uploads? I'm wondering if there is a way to control how many simultaneous uploads are performed by Smugbrowser? I haven't found a pattern to it yet, but sometimes smugbrowser will upload 2 at a time, most often it will upload 8 at a time, and every now and then it will upload something… -
Re: Noise Issue PLEASE HELP
Don't forget to keep an eye on you shutter speed with regard to your focal length which may be an issue in your second image, the boats. As a general rule, you should try to keep your shutter speed equal to a fraction of 1 over the focal length. Some might add that with a crop sensor such as the 50d and 7d, the fraction… -
Re: 5D in the rain
Your sensor looks like it needs some seriuos cleaning. I think very moist conditions tend to carry gung onto the sensor. The dirtiest my sensor ever was was after shooting an airshow right after a heavy rain. The camera did not get wet - I was protected by a tent. It was a sealed camera too - 1DMkll but a 100-440 trombone… -
Re: Camera bags?
Diversity: Bags And Users As far as what everyone uses....well.....I would bet there are some of us using nearly every brand out there and we probably all love what we use....Dogdots is correct in saying find what fits then buy bigger....for several reasons.....you have a body and 2 lenses.....at some point in the near… -
Re: NEW: 5x7 Folded Cards
Love the cards! My batch of 75 cards came a few days ago and I'm really happy with the quality. I've gone with MPIX for the past two years and was never quite happy with the print quality, but I couldn't find another shop that offered the same level of customization until the new offering from SmugMug. The print quality is… -
Re: iso
I like the "where do you want to go" response that someone wrote. It certainly helps to know what you want to achieve. I'll share with you my thinking and my choices as a result. Goal: weddings, indoor shooting without flash Result: all my lenses are fast lenses. "Fast" means they support larger aperatures. So my lenses…
