ch 41 - first try here too!
hi everyone, I've been watching the challenges for a few months and haven't been able to have any good ideas for photos, or have any great opportunities come along. Finally, an opportunity presented itself. This little cutie, Sombra, was swept away from her mom during a torrential downpour Memorial Day weekend. She was 5… -

Printing books - 80 copies or so
I might be taking on a project next year which would require me to get about 80 coppies of a 50-page booklet printed in full color. The person who did it this year used a local printer. The paper and the binding looked good, but the image quality didn't impress me. I made a blurb book recently with photos from my last… -
SOLD: Canon 100-400 f/4-5.6L

Includes all the original accessories (hood, caps, tripod collar, and case). I'll throw in a ThinkTank LensChanger 75, Wimberly lens plate, and woodland camo… -
SOLD: Tokina 12-24mm f/4 DX for Canon
Since using my Tokina 12-24mm f/4 for a trip to Glacier National Park in 2007, it has sat unused and under wraps. It's time to send this gem off to a good home. It's been on a camera and used for approximately 4,000 frames over 5 days. Other than that, it's been wrapped in a lens wrap and stored away. Pristine condition is… -

Re: Edisto Marina, Edisto Beach, South Carolina
Thanks, 4labs. I'm working on them as I find them. When I took the photo above and this one, I was on a 5-day live-aboard sailing cruise getting my off-shore bareboat and coastal navigation certification. This was our fourth day just before we set sail to head back toward our home port of Charleston, SC. We were sailing… -
Re: Trying Black & White Film... Recommendations?
Tri-X was always my faviorite film, along with Plus-X for bright daylight. Nowdays, T-Max 400 is a finer grain version of a modern Tri-X. Be sure to try some Ilford XP-2 Super (ISO 400) which can be processed by any C-41 lab. Not as sweet as the Kodak film, but it has the convenience factor. For a really grainy but fast… -
Re: Gitzo GT-1541T
Andy, I just got back from Sammys Camera to see if there is a difference between the 2531 and 2541. So I set them up sided by side and messed with the tops. There is but I don't know if it is significant enough to make a difference in what I am going to do which pretty much panoramas on peaks. I mean the 41 wiggles just a… -
Re: Firewire help - Extreme IV Reader can't connect to laptop
Wow. Wish I had known that before I bought the unit today. So is there a way I can get full firewire 800 on my C2D blacbook? It takes the 9 pin to 6 pin cord. it's more than 4x faster than camera to USB, although that's not really comparing apples to apples. For reference I uploaded 69 RAW files, 470MB, in 1 min 41 sec vs…
