Tips for lighting a LARGE group?
In a couple of weeks, I'm to shoot a group portrait of about 45 cast members of a play, on an auditorium stage. I've shot numerous studio shots, but never anything bigger than a handful of people, for which my lighting eqpt has been more than adequate. So, I'm wondering if there is anything special I need to do / be aware… -
Re: Photography Workshop--Shoot Wild Utah with Marc Muench!
Hi Marc, Thanks for your response. I'm really looking forward to the Utah workshop. I've been eyeing the 5D for more than a year now while hoping for an updated model release. Most of my recent lense purchases were selected for my 20D but with anticipation for use on a future FF body. The only lense I would need to lose is… -
Mini-Challenge #192 - Repeat, Repeat
Hi Folks. The theme for Mini-Challenge #192 is: Repeat Repetition is an oft' employed compositional device - that I happen to like - and I think it makes for interesting, sometimes abstract, and sometimes unexpected images. Please use your imaginations and be as creative as you wish... repetitions of shape, color, objects,… -

Mini-Challenge #192 - Repeat - RESULTS
Hey Gang... Thanks for the great entries and a fun one to look-at and judge. I can see that repetition is something that catches the eye(s) of many photographers and makes for some pretty interesting images, from the very small to the very large in subject and scale. Many potential winners here, but as always, you've got… -
Descriptions to the right of photos in journal style
Yes, Allen, you did it for me. :lust Lots of hunting through DG for the right code. http://www.joinrats.com/START-HERE-Earn-Trust/Links/n-fm4NBC/ One question: the background color code spans the entire page, unlike the background color on, for example, the SM style gallery, which keeps the background just around the… -
Re: Need some advice
Ok, let me see if I can add to the great advice you have already received. You can use the crop tool without any criteria typed and use it as a free hand crop. This way you can set the height and width independently to accommodate the subject in your photo. You already know how to set the criteria for a desired aspect… -
Re: Pricing for Photo Shoot & CD
Hate to derail this thread, but you posted the gallery for critique... my personal opinion (take it for what you paid for it :D) 1. There are some really gorgeous shots in there, but they are BURIED. 192 shots is way overwhelming to go through. As the photographer, you are hired for not only your expertise behind the… -
