Re: Butt-ugly yellow - what gels to use?
As a start, try using the white strips in the floor for a custom white balance in Photoshop or ACR. If this was shot in RAW, do this color balance in ACR. You might even try balancing off his black shirt, or the silver stripe in his shorts. Those all seem like good potential neutrals to color balance off. When I read the… -
Re: Please help me decide
Most folks agree that image stabilization (VR) has little effect at true macro distances. Some sort of physical stabilization is greatly preferred, either a tripod (for non-moving and planned subjects) or a pole/stabilizer for hand-held tasks. You don't mention if you shoot FX or DX bodies, but on DX bodies the older… -

Re: Working with custom pages and galleries
so sad, so much for the "fully customizable in the sales literature". I do appreciate your help, I figured I was trying to do something that should be able to be done but can't. I am researching the WP stuff and it appears i may have found a piece of code that emulates a server on my mac for WP offline development. I am… -

Re: Eliminating 4x6" prints
Pre-pay is the only way to fly. A lot of people simply view the pictures online, email the link around to friends and family, put a link or a screenshot on facebook, and then they're done with them, they don't need to buy. And watermarks do nothing to discourage this or encourage sales. Many of these people have every… -
Olympus E-3 Camera Body Only
This is the Olympus professional-grade "splash-proof" E-3 body. It is *very* rugged, and produces terrific image quality at 10mp with excellent color saturation. The camera is in flawless, like-new condition, just over a year old--very very well-cared for. It has just over 20,190 clicks on its shutter (13.5% of the 150,000… -
Tennis ball color theory
Ginger and I have had little friction about the color of tennis balls. I think I can state her side fairly as follows:The dog in my avatar has a green tennis ball in her mouth. Tennis balls are yellow and not green. (Correct me if I am wrong, Ginger.) While, I grant that Ginger is an expert on tennis balls, my position on… -
Re: Silly Self-Portraits
Thank you! Actually, thank you for bringing up the glasses--I was also experimenting to ensure I had no glare on them, after reading so much on these boards about that issue. I'd avoided photographing myself with my glasses on because of it. I used the "tilt the glasses down" trick in that first panel (upper left) to make…
