Re: What should I upgrade?
Can you swing a touch more money for a D300.....if not get the D200. Actually you have some good glass but for my wedding shooting I want something in the 24-70 and the 70-200.....for me 135 is not long enough especially for the ceremony shots.....so I am now looking for to change to a 17-50 or 70 and another 70-200 (I… -
Re: Dealing with sports leagues - what to give back
Update - I survived So, I survived the week-end; barely. So far, from a business perspective, it was a flop. I spent 15 hours on Sat. and 13 hours on Sunday shooting - including presentation photos and action shots. In all I captured 2575 images. I then spent 8 hours on Monday culling and sorting. 4 hours on Tuesday… -

Re: Canon Telephoto extenders
Hi J&H - Glad to see you hanging around our digs again I bought a Sigma APO 1.4x DG for Nightingale ( my spouse ) to use with her Sigma 120-300f2.8 and she seems pleased with it. As for the 100-400 Canon - some folks love it and others swear at it. I find myself reaching for my Tamron 200-500 over the Canon 100-400… -
Re: Possible Travel Kit
Sounds like you've got it down. Is the D70 a full-sized chip, or a smaller one like my Rebel XT? Looking at your lens choices, I didn't know if they were actual 35mm focal lengths or 1.6x conversions. . . . Pardon my ignorance. 100 years ago I had a Nikkor AI 35mm f/1.4. . . . Which I loved. Sold it to a friend and regret… -
Re: Katie and Wes Wedding!!!
Getting the right exposure: picking up more light on-site Thanks all for your kind words and support! I am wondering about how to brighten my exposures as many seem a little dark. I know I can go into LR and bring dark ones up there (and I will), but I'm wondering about getting a brighter exposure on-site. I know it was… -
Re: Investment in DX body and lenses a dead end?
This is starting to follow along the lines of Nikon v Canon. It doesn't matter. What matter is being able to use the gear to produce quality images. The vast majority of pictures taken these days are with P&S and phone-cameras. Those formats are the biggest market formats these days. I was helping someone with a… -
Re: ##Challenge 24 - Kate's Landscapes##
Kate, I think smugmug has solved my problems for me. I just went back to my challenge thread and checked the properties of the photo after it was linked from smugmug and posted to my threaqd and wouldnt you know it it was already sized to 800x240 pixels. Either I got lucky or smugmug sets the longest side of a medium sized… -
Re: Setting up a home studio and (perhaps) starting to sell some photos.
some more from personal experience.... PVC is cheap but it will not hang well over a 9-12' span with out center support (experience here) I use 1 10ft 2"PVC on my portable backdrop holder and since it has no way to roll it (sprocket and chain system) it is a pain to roll a 20' long backdrop up by hand, so I highly… -
Re: What's your 2nd body? Full Frame Or Not?
This is just my opinion and that is all......I started out shooting with only 1 body and 1 lens and I did this for a couple or 3 or 4 years......never had a problem until 1 day the camera malfunctioned and I was almost screwed, but luckil.y I had a friend that shoot with the same make of camera as I did and he ran it out…
