I put my two cents in for what it's worth. #13 October Stew The pastel colors and detail really draw me in. #14 Lonely Reflections Beautiful composition and colors #22 Berry Border Beautiful abstract composition with many classic composition elements. #38 Journey into the Mist I'm a sucker for these… -
Re: More dynamic Range for 7D - iphone is blowing my mind.
I have used a number of programs for HDR rendering of Raw files, but the time and effort can be significant. futzing with sliders and such. Bah, who needs it!? Marc Muench recently pointed me to HDR SOFT MERGE TO 32-BIT HDR PLUGIN FOR LIGHTROOM OR PHOTOSHOP and I must say I have really become a fan. --… -
Re: Test: Kenko extension tubes with Canon 100mm Macro
I ran a (very) quick test using my 100 macro (original, non usm) and kenko tubes + 1Dm3 Figures below are: extension / subject width on frame / min working distance (didn't bother with max wd) (working distance being from front of lens barrel to subject - distance from subject to sensor plane for lens only being 304mm) Set… -
Re: Help with Computer System for 1Ds(MarkII)
My 2.2Ghz Gateway XP machine only has 1 Gb RAM and it runs PS CS and Firefox, and Streets and Trips so I think 2 Gb will be fine. The next step up is probably 4 Gb RAM isn't it? And I doubt you will see much difference in speed with 4 Gb, but if you want to, go for it. But Photoshop will only use a max of 2Gb. Even on my… -
Re: Another Help Me Spend My Money Thread
Indeed I would stick with the Tamron if the Sigma is a whole $200-300 more. But yeah, I think the difference is down around $100 or so... Also, especially if it's landscape work, I'd definitely be going for a lens like the 16-86 Nikon or 15-85 Canon, for sure. (Although both of those lenses are FAR more expensive, I… -

A short road trip in the Alps
A couple of weeks ago I made a short excursion at the foot of the Slovenian Alps. I vaguely knew the road from the map, but it turned out my map was old as a new road has been constructed recently and I just took it without knowing where it would lead me. I started down in the valley: Some of the trees were already turning… -
Re: 60D announced (for real this time)
amatuerphotographer has completed their review of the Canon 60D (86%)& Nikon D7000 (85%). "As the Canon EOS 60D is a blend of the EOS 550D and 7D, as well as including a few features of its own, I was keen to seen exactly how it performed. With an 18-million-pixel CMOS sensor and a street price that should soon drop below…
