#177--Human Emotions--results
I've noticed that participation in these mini-challenges has decreased quite a bit; so I'm thankful to those of you who played. I enjoyed looking at all the images. As I said before, I think there's nothing so intriguing as the human face--I love watching emotions play across the features, and any photo that captures a… -
Re: Going to Order 17-40L f/4
You can read about it here: http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Canon%20EOS%20Lens%20Tests/177-canon-ef-17-40mm-f4-usm-l-test-report--review?start=1 The good news is that for most images you won't notice it so it's not a problem. The better news is that when you do notice the problem, it's pretty simple to adjust in software.… -
HTTP PUT uploads don't seem to work
I'm trying to get HTTP PUT to work using python httplib. I made sure all of the headers were set and properly spelled (including case). I simply get a "Broken pipe" error message from the server. Are there any examples of using httplib in python to upload via PUT? is HTTP PUT still a valid upload method? <pre> 173 data =… -

Re: Image: 2009-07-05
This image definitely has potential to it. I'd do a few things in Photoshop. 1. Fix the perspective/horizon just a little. The crooked and very slightly distorted lines in the background are a little distracting. Not such a big deal though. 2. Convert to black and white. First, this would eliminate the distraction the… -
Re: What quality level CS jpeg for Smugmug?
I know this seems like blasphemy, but even on very large prints (actually, especially on very large prints) I've never met the person who could tell the difference between 10 and 12. I know a few who think they can tell the difference between 9 and 10, but that's controversial. Counterintuitively, both dpi and compression… -
Re: Nice to meet you.
This is just the kind of thread I'd hoped existed! It's great to get to know you all! Who? I'm Heather. Where? Oregon, on the sunny side of the Cascade Mountains. What? I was a professor (theatre and English), but am now a university administrator. How long shooting? I've shot pictures since my senior year in high school… -
Re: The get ready for the new cart thread
Andy, Baldy .. Asked a couple of times.. Can you help? I posted this back on question 147 and 177. My memory is that when you used to "buy a photo" you didn't get all the sizing, paper, etc. options until check out. Is there anyway to have that as the default. My question below was posted as a concern based on customers… -

Mini Challenge #177 - Human Emotions
Welcome to Mini-Challenge #177 - I’m excited to be hosting my first mini. It’s been fun playing along for a couple of years; now it’s my turn to choose the topic! In my opinion, there’s nothing as interesting as human nature, or as fascinating as the human face. So….. I am interested in seeing your images of people, more…
