Hello everyone, my name is Crystal, I currently reside in Florida with my husband three kids and 14 pets. I am a very very beginner picture taker hehehe. I love to take photos but I still have sooooo much to learn. I hope to be able to post on a regular basis, but I am also a beginner to forums so bear with me as I learn… -
Re: Site Speed???
Hi Andy, Thanks for helping us to work on this item. I posted in a similar message thread about a week ago with my traceroute results. I tend to hop between multiple locations and multiple hardware/software combinations. Namely a Mac Mini using both Safari and Firefox. Also working on a Windows XP system using Chrome or… -
Re: Your Death Plan?
I posted a comment somewhat addressing this in another Smugmug forum, you can read it at this link. The gist of it is that what happens to our photos is a minor issue compared to what happens to our other valuable online assets, like large bank accounts, important digital records of property, etc. In other words, we should… -
Re: My Onsite Workflow - Suggestions and Comments
My experience I used 4 viewing stations last year and plan to add at least 2 more in spring as well as a mobile "roaming station' using a tablet PC for more pro-active sales. Viewing stations are the only way to go. I also believe more stations = more people viewing = more sales. I think the investment is well worth it.… -
Re: LPS20 - Unofficial Feedback Thread
Back for more! 31: In the first two second after looking at this, the dominant subject is the sparks and the action that caused them, not at all the hands. It’s very hard to take an image that hasn’t been done before, but a shot very similar to this was part of one of the previous LPS Rounds, “explosive” I believe. Anyway,… -
Re: Recs for a great all-purpose lens - D700?
Honestly, in my opinion the two terms "FX" and "all-purpose lens" don't belong in the same sentence. Yes, Nikon did just announce a 28-300 FX lens that is equivalent to the 18-200. I'm sure you gain a stop or so in low-light performance, shallow depth, and maybe it's a bit sharper depending on the angle they can get light… -
Re: Christmas Candids
Thanks for your response and your questions, Ziggy, Virgina, Saurora and others. I think you are seeing what I was pleased with - soft shadows, balanced accurate color, and catchlights as well. I used a 580ex on ETTL with a 6 inch high foam (white card) style diffuser on the back of the flash head. I oriented the flash… -
Re: Disneyland night photo help...
Hi, I do not work with outdoor flash, so I can't expand on Scott's excellent input, but I may be able to offer some advice for your non-flash shots of distant objects (I do alot of sunset shooting). The lens you use will depend on the subject distance and subject size, but in general you will probably be using normal to… -
Re: 3-way head or Ball head? Which one do you have? Why?
The point of the L/elbow bracket (they serve the same function, although different brands look different) is that it allows you to quickly flip the camera from landscape to portrait orientation, and back again, with resetting the tripod head. The bracket has two quick-release plates in one piece, with one of them… -
