Goodbye Mac, Hello HP Elitebook 8770w
As both speed & mobility are key for my work, I've relied on hopped up MacBook Pros for years. Have had a Mac since 1986 and always loved putting whatever high end parts in them as needed. Was an Apple Specialist - mainly built crazy towers for movie editing. Would have never considered anything else. Now, as it's upgrade… -

Re: Film Scan Resolutions?
Keep in mind that your scan is really measured in pixels. DPI is only used to tell you how large the photo will display in a print or on the screen. For example, I have a photo that is 2592 x 3872 pixels. That's a 10 megapixel image. In a 300 dpi print, it would be 8.6 x 12.9 inches. In 72 dpi (i.e., on a computer… -
Re: Photoshop CS2 "Smart Sharpen"
Smart sharpen works for me Smart sharpening works for me on this photo. I can apply smart sharpening and when I hit OK, the effect I see in the preview stays on the image. I can go to the history palette and toggle back and forth between the pre-sharpened version and the sharpened version and see the effect. So, it looks… -

Re: Veteran for Peace at Occupy Boston

He was carrying a flag that said Verterans For Peace as were about a dozen other older guys who all appeared to be veterans and… -

Re: What DLSR should I buy?
I only have experience with Olympus camera, so the 4/3 system Pathfinder mentioned is what I can talk about. The E-500 is a very nice starting point. It is cheap, low weight, and comes with two decent kit lenses that might be a nice starting point if you only want to tip your toes in (and beyond that, since the camera is… -
Re: Help Baldy shoot for a 72x240-inch print
When you say " f/2.8 at f/8" do you mean at 1/8 second? How long did it take to shoot all 109 shots? Did you use mirror lockup? It looks like you got lucky with the focus. :-) About how far away were you from the cathedral? The online DoF calculator at www.dofmaster.com says: Subject distance 500 ft Depth of field Near…
