Mini Challenge #229: Public Art
Mini Challenge #229: Public Art The next mini-challenge will focus on another popular subject "Public Art" and I'm looking at it in the broadest sense possible, it can be a statue, sculpture, painting, graffiti, museum piece et. etc. It can be old or new, include other spectators or not, as long as it's publicly accessible… -

Mini Challenge #229: Public Art, RESULTS
You girls and guys made judging difficult but after looking again, and again, and again, and ....... I decided that I just need to make a verdict. It's my personal and subjective choice and I thank all of you for entering, every picture was worthwhile! Travelways, especially liked your third, because the public and the art… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
I have been clicking around a little bit on your site, bjcoolphoto and a couple of things caught my eye: 1. The published book side (in the Travel lib) looks pretty messy with the blurb codes on top and pushed to the far left side not to mention some texts that seem to belong nowhere. 2. You have a New Zealand Photo… -
Re: Apertures for Landscapes
Something else to keep in mind is where your lens is strongest at; if you can get adequate DOF at f/8, and the lens is best at f/8, and is falling off at f/11, there's no point is using anything higher than f/8 (for example). I use the MTF values for my lenses from here: http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/overview Pick your… -
Re: Upload errors
Well, I think you may be onto something John. Here's a copy of my tracert and it looks just like yours. And I'm on the other side of the US, so I'm coming from a completely different route:D:\>tracert upload.smugmug.comTracing route to upload-v2-1649360212.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com [204.236.231.18]over a maximum of 30… -
Re: Problem with alt tag
From my experience, you can't use HTML within an alt tag. Keep it straight text within the "" or you run the risk of this. Lines 206, 229, 254, 277 have htm within the alt tag. Remove it and all will ok again :-) Example from line 206:<a href="/gallery/480307"><img border="1" width="100" height="75" alt="Tuesday, April 12… -

Re: Time for a tripod - advice appreciated
I don't know if you noticed my tripod/head on Saturday, but I literally had just gotten it a couple of days before the WWPW. So all of this is with that caveat: I've only had this setup for a week and I don't know how well it will hold up long-term. Art Scott says he's been using Giottos for decades, so I have a warm fuzzy… -
Small camera roundup
Those who have been following my search for a new travel camera know I've been checking out a number of models. I think I've finally worked my way through the contenders, and since a few people wanted to know what I discovered, I'm starting this new thread with a run-down plus some sample shots. This is NOT a scientific…
