Re: Need Tripod Leash Recommendation
Tony and Paul, thanks much! Appreciate feedback. I need weights just to keep it stable for long exposures, and probably only solution there is to carry some as they are not always available. I usually have it set-up high and leaning out and kind of not very stable only because of the POV. So I think weight has limit… -
Re: Help to Change Individual Parts of my Map page
Unable to implement changes - Where to put CSS for just one page? Thanks a mil for taking a look at it, Lille-- & hope you're getting some shut-eye. Well, unfortunately I wasn't successful with implementing changes yet-- but maybe I'm just not finding the correct places to do these tweaks. As far as limiting the "Recent… -
Re: What is your cropping strategy?
I usually don't see immediate sales from games at the beginning of the season. Parents, relatives, and friends seem to want to look through all the galleries later in the season to see if there is anything better. Orders range from one print to multiple prints. Most orders are for ~$35.00, with a number of orders breaking… -
Re: Cobblestone Cyclist, critique welcome
I wasn't making a statement about myself, Juano - but about photography in general. And yes, it is definitely what "feels right." I have no illusions that anyone other than my children will ever think about, look at, or otherwise be aware of my photography after I'm gone - oh, unless someone goes through the 30photos in… -
Re: Lens Quandry for Canon 7D
In addition to personal stuff (kid, dog, snaps etc), I shoot portraits (performer headshots), and low-light events, ie theatre, including occasional dance performances. My lens lineup was as follows: Tam 17-50 2.8 Canon 50 1.4 Canon 85 1.8 Canon 135L 2.0 Despite having this great lens lineup, I found myself constantly… -
Re: what U think ?
http://mansurovs.com/nikon-tc-20e-iii-review Because there is less magnification with a 1.4 instead of a 2.0. TC's work best on 2.8 and f4 lenses. After that, you start making bigger compromises in IQ. It will also be helpful to use Sigma TC's on Sigma glass as they are built to be compatible with Sigma lenses. The new… -
Re: Suggestions for lens to take to Buenos Aires and Patagonia
For a crop sensor kit, honestly I wouldn't take any of those L lenses. Personally, I'd rather have a few of my own personal favorites. The Tokina 11-16 2.8 and the Sigma 50-150 2.8. Two of the best "adventure photography" lenses ever made. Light, small, but sharp as heck and f/2.8 for when you need it. The 17-40 f/4 L… -
Re: I need advice for the beginner horse show photographer.
I have been shooting horse shows for a few years, switched from motosports. I make my best money at small single ring shows and I charge a $10 "registration" fee. I have gotten to know my customers and they have learned quickly if they don't sign up there will not be any pics. I also do not process my shots until they are… -

Out and about Baden and Pfalz
I guess this isn't really a "journey", as I just moved here, but I have been taking advantage of the last few weekends to check out the area in and around Mannheim. Speyer Speyer is one of the oldest towns in Germany, first metioned in 150 AD as a roman encampment named after a previous celtic settlement. The city rose to…
