Re: Differences between Nikon and Canon bodies ergos
The current generation of Canon AF select logic seems to allow both. The process to change an AF point is as follows on the 20D, and I think on the 1Ds as well, is as follows:* push the AF point select control button. * steer directly to the AF point you want either with the joystick, OR by spinning the either selection… -
Re: The Next Step (no pics, just unabashed advice sought)
...and so have roughly 100,000 other hobbyist photographers, in 2009. (Rumored statistic.) My point- Good luck with that! I don't mean to be negative, but realistic. Here's where the "realistic" needs to settle in. I'm sure you're just being light-hearted when you say "a bazillion weddings", but it still bears saying-… -
Re: The Elements -- behind the scenes
Fairly straightforward story in my case. Visited the oldest cemetery in town with a rough idea of a pic - saw this gravestone and thought it offered better potential than the original (more obvious / cliched) idea. Took a few shots to get an idea and reviewed them back at 'base camp' - and decided on viewpoint /… -
Re: SmugMug dealbreaker
I would also like to see sub-gallery galore. When someone says people don't like to click, click, click to drill down to where they want to go, that's people like my brother and my mother (who are 60 and 80, respectively, and not on line but maybe once a month, if that). Most folks who use the internet are used to drilling… -
Re: Chime in on this discussion/question of which lens
You're on the right track. An active dog is much like sports/action photography and you require both rapid and accurate AF acquisition in order to produce sharp images. This requires both a camera "and" lens which are capable of measuring the speed and vector of the subject as well as predicting where focus will be at the… -

Re: Some of my recent favorie soccer shots...
Thanks so much for the kind words, If someone wants one of the small thin images they will print in just about any size up to an 8x10 with no problem, it will however have the outer white borders that have to be trimmed off. When they need larger prints for posters and life size stand-ups to go in stores or for displays, I… -
Re: New Camera, New to Photography
Welcome Honored Senator. Shooting pictures in the snow on overcast days can try your patience and the accuracy of your in camera light meter and the Average White balance setting. But is also can be great fun with a little understanding of what is going on. :D In your first image much of the snow is overexposed and blown… -
Re: Olympus EVOLT E-500
That's funny: I went with an Olympus, just because the middle range of the lenses: they are optically very good, weather sealed, relatively lightweight, and available for very decent prices. Which lens would you prefer over the 14-54 2.8-3.5 weather sealed lens (28-108 35mm FOV) in the Nikon range? Or the 50-200 2.8-3.5… -
Re: Where has all the business gone...
Well my input. I write this after spending 3 days at Imaging USA listening to speakers and see some awesome and truly inspiring images. What organizations are you in? What do you do to keep up with the trends of those looking for photography services? What is your ideal customer? I heard some very good insight into these…
