Portraits from Company Picnic
The Best Buy store I work at just turned 2 years old yesterday, so we had a "family picnic" and I took lots of photos for everyone. Some posed, some not :) Mostly not posed... My favorite photogenic family: The youngest girl is just adorable and loves the camera: Lighting wasn't the best here, probably should have used… -

Re: 430ex or 580ex? pity me
The size isn't as big of a difference as people have stated. I own both the 580ex and the 420ex (model prior to 430ex) and don't feel the size difference matters that much. Both use 4 batteries and the weight isn't that much different either. Here's a comparison: 430ex: 2.8 x 4.8 x 4" (72 x 122 x 101mm) WxHxD, 11.6 oz (330… -

Any Arizona Shooters Out There?
Shooting outdoors in the Wild, Wild West, especially during the extremely hot (115-122 degree) summer months poses unique problems. Throw dust into the equation and you have the potential of causing some serious damage to your equipment and yourself. I use a variety of techniques to overcome the heat issues as well as… -

Re: Great desktop specs for photo editing?
That looks like a very good price, with plenty of money to spend on a really nice monitor. The only bit of research I would suggest is to really look into that AMD processor. Intel has been trouncing AMD for so many years. I know this AMD compares nicely with the now older Core 2Duo, but you may be able to boost the… -
Re: Supercharge Your Camera with Open-Source CHDK Firmware (Canon Only)
You might not be able to get exactly 30mm, but looking at these scripting samples it should be rather easy to put together something that sets to zoom to one step off the widest and takes a shot. In fact, it's as easy as: rem CHDK Build 122 or later required@title Set Zoom and Shoot@param a Zoom step to set@default a… -
www.smugmug.com DNS problem
I can't reach www.smugmug.com and I see why. The problem is that it's a CNAME pointing to hera.smugmug.com which is a CNAME to www.smugmug.com, so it's an endless loop. ; <<>> DiG 9.4.2 <<>> any www.smugmug.com ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 122 ;; flags: qr…
