Re: Photo Vest
So much of this photography gear stuff is a personal preference and needs to work for YOU. You have already put thought into evaluating and tradeoffs of the relevant product characteristics important to YOU. (perhaps such as: type and frequency of use, gear protection, comfort, ease of use, appearance etc.). So don't worry… -
Re: Monitor
The Spyder Pro does not allow you to set a target brightness in the same manner as you would with the Spyder Elite. The Elite has a dedicated module for this and it works really well. You set the value you want to see, i.e. 120 cd/m2, and the Elite's software gives an active semi real time (click to update) screen to see… -
Re: Newbie alert!! Gymnastics!
So, let's summarize. the light levels for gymnastics are probably some of the worst for any sport - period. Expect, at f2.0 to be shooting at ISO 1600 to get 1/320 or so shutter speeds. With floor access, the 85 will be the option of choice. However, you're going to have an issue with the ISO performance of your current… -

Dessau, Jena, and Berlin
Well, I'm mostly settled in at the new apartment in Mannheim, so I busted out the Mac, tried to install photoshop and lightroom (and was finally succesfull after a call to adobe) and uploaded some recent photos. My wife's birthday happened to coincide with the last week we had a free rental car, so we decided to hit the… -
No Images - Opinion
Interesting point of view Here's a list of tips, advice, rules and just things to know about photography from Eric Kim, a street photographer who also holds photography workshop classes. Here's the full list: 1. Just because someone has an expensive camera doesn't mean that they're a good photographer. 2. Always shoot in… -
**Challenge 23 - Comments by Snapapple**
JUDGES COMMENTS: Well folks, I’m not Andy by a long shot. But, since most people want to know, I’ll try to give a reason, as I see it, for not making the final cut. I hope it's not too harsh. Remember, I am only one person and one opinion. It’s a critique of only one shot, and does not reflect on you personally or as a… -
>>> aaronbrown, People Photo Challenge #13 winner
aaronbrown won the people photo challenge #13: (Fall) Colors. WHO ARE YOU? I am a native of Northwest Indiana; it is kind of like a southeastern suburb of Chicago, but, you know... in a different state. I have a Baccalaureate of Science in Computer Information Systems that I have never used and three years at Columbia… -
Part Timer's Career Post Mortem
Well my 2014 Little League season is at an end. After 5 years of doing this I've decided I'm giving up the T&I and action side business, at least at this capacity as the "official" photographer for the entire league. Maybe I'll do it again someday, like after I retire from my career in software. So I thought I'd share some… -
Changes included with Lightroom Plugin 3.3.3.0
To avoid "Body is 3103 characters too long." I'll trim the change log, since, DUH, dgrin decided to limit it when it matters... Suprirsingly easy to publish the change log: here it is for anyone who'd like to read it before downloading the damn zip file or allowing Lightroom to just download it without knowing what…
