Re: smugmug.images.get&Extras intermittent problem
I managed to capture a network sniff of the issue last night. The server returned a redirect from the initial request for the file, then the server returned a 404 response code - file not found from the redirected url. 50 seconds later the same request succeeded. Any ideas on how to avoid these 404 return codes or is this… -

Re: SEO tests
@grahamphoto This is because Smugmug is not keeping up with Google's practices. Google updates their algorithms sometimes daily, sometimes weekly. You can find all of their updates by creating a Search Console account with them - their guides are far better. Problem with this is that some of the requirements to be… -
Re: All my pictures are gone ( ?! )
Your SmugMug custom domain is currently set to "www.alexandredeschaumes.com", but www.alexandredeschaumes.com isn't set up as a SmugMug domain (it doesn't have a CNAME record pointing at domains.smugmug.com, instead it currently has an A record pointing it at a server hosted at OVH). Check out your account settings and… -
Re: Where to store <1GB of files
Great suggestion! One WOULD think the solution would be as straight-forward as you say. Unfortunately, that's not what I have so far found. I've recently been spending hours and hours on this, between my own tinkering and swapping email messages with various menbers of the GoDaddy support team. They seem to me to have an… -
Re: Convert GIF 89 to 87a ???
Looking at the content of a GIF, I see that the "GIF89a" is right in the very first bytes. You might try using a binary editor to change that to look like the earlier version. Or you might write (or pay someone to write) some code to make a utility to make the changes. I don't have a GIF87 to look at so I can only show you… -
Re: Which cameras to get - for an R&D Lab - and "hi"
We have a Macro forum with some wonderful suggestions on equipment and lighting: http://dgrin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=143373 For the material sizes you have indicated I suggest that in addition to a dSLR you need: A standard/normal lens, to capture the large sized "drills in here that… -
Mini Challenge # 301: Vacation
This mini will feature the theme of Vacation. I know I'll make my judging life difficult because you can imagine a large diversity to picture this subject. However since it's almost July which is vacation time for the northern hemisphere I also think it's timely to do it now. Hopefully I'll be able to pick a worthy winner… -
Re: 2 months with the D300
Well, after some time I decided not to get the battery/charger set up. You had a good point about the AA batteries so I now keep the second cradle loaded up with those. If I was doing something that 8FPS might benefit, I'll just use the AA batteries. Since I don't use them that much, I figure I'll save my money and spend… -
