River shots
Hi all, last week I spent an afternoon shooting at a river bank. Here's what I came up with: I made some cool comparisons of shots taken with and without a polarizing filter. The effects are amazing. Unfortunately, I can't link the photos with the mouseover effect here, so you'll have to find them in this album:… -
#74 -- Weird EXIF Dude
Here's my Kubrick shot. Let's call it, "The Embryonic Miracle of 2001: A Space Odyssey" You get the reference? If not, here's a hint: Of course, I cannot use it. Even though I used a Digital Camera, the GE Voluson 730 Pro, and even though the exposure settings are right there embedded in the scene, you know how Sean is… -
Re: Sigma 10-20mm or Nikkor 10.5mm Please Comment!
I have the sigma 10-20 and really have fun with it . If you can afford the Nikon get it rather . WDC magazine did a test on 4 superwide-zooms and gave the Canon 10-22 80% , Tamron 11-18 74% , Sigma 10-20 79% [ 13 for performance ] and the Nikon f4 12-24 86% [17 for performance ], they never mentioned the 10.5 but I think… -
Re: dirty reporting worthy of Katie Couric.
Your point being what exactly? You said you were willing to take criticism. So I did an extensive critique for you in post #74. Your response to that in post #78 was simply to say how wonderful your images were, how much time you spent getting email addresses, and how happy you were with your images. That tells me you were… -

Picnik Downsizes Files
I was excited about trying some quick lighting / color fixes on Picnik, having just stumbled on the site recently. On the first file I fixed (autocolor and a very tiny crop), I was surprised when, as I went to overwrite the original with the fix, I was warned that the file was 74% smaller than the original. (I don't… -

Re: Highlight Priority anyone?
It doesn't slow down the continuous rate on the 40D. I get about 69-74 L jpgs and 17 raw shots w/ it on. I've noticed about 1/3 - 2/3 stop saved detail in my highlights. My shadows haven't suffered when I used it at ISO 200. I haven't used it above ISO 200. I don't keep it on because I've seen the warning in the manual…
