Scott, I was Civil Service at Keesler from about 82-92.. with the 403rd from 85-90. I'm still down on the Coast... in AL now.. but Mom is still in Ocean Springs.. I saw the pix of Pass Christian in your gallery... beautiful shots... those piers are probably gone now though :( I drove as far along Hwy 90 as I could at… -
Digital SLR Cameras - How does yours rate?
I've been going through the cameralabs.com website and am impressed by their video reviews and range of cameras reviewed. http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/digital_camera_and_lens_reviews.shtml How does yours rate and does the rating match your experience? (the Nikon D700 rates at 95% if you drop the value assesment - I'll… -
Re: Interesting WW II aircraft.
Actually, Taz, in it's final iteration it flew wonderfully well. It was a lot faster than the P-51 and had a much longer range of operation. The original prototype didn't fly well at all. They changed the rotation of the propellers from " outward " to " inward " and that transformed the flight characteristics from awful to… -
Re: How to pick the right filters?
How about using a standard 82mm CPL and a 77-85mm step up ring? That avoids the problems with shallow flter rings - you would then need an 82 lens cap. That is less than $10. Using polarizing filters with ultrawide angle lenses introduces another problem - that the sky will vary in its color due to variations in the degree… -
Re: Muench Workshop: Isle of Mull, Scotland - May 2008
I've just realised I only have a 72mm adapter ring for my filter holder but my recently purchased 16-35 lens is 82 mm, doh! Looks like I'll be hand holding my filters, could I be any more professional? If anyone's really stuck for adapters let me know, I'm sure I can fish out some spare cables (I'm guessing the end that… -
Re: Ukrainian Easter Bread
Thank you everyone for the encouragement. The lady running the Hobart mixer is Bessie my 82 yo grandmother. She has as much energy as any 30 yo I know. She spends 8-10 hours a day making bread, perogies, and cabbage rolls for the many church events. The tall guy, Rich, is the youngest one in the kitchen at around 50. Who… -

Re: Hoover Dam Bypass Milestone
It wasn't a "cool" place when I rode over the dam 2 years ago on my Goldwing in June Side story: I was showing these pics to my dad & he said, "that things almost full. I saw it when I was 15 (he's now 82, so that would have been 1942), we were going to California to work in the Navel shipyard, and crossed over the dam. It… -
Western Michigan v. Kent State Men's Basketball
Wow! Another nail-biter @ WMU Wednesday. :huh Kent State came out like gang-busters, hitting 3 or 4 3-pointers in a row to put WMU in a hole right at the start. WMU was down by 6 at the half. many lead changes back & forth and the game tied 70-70 with 3:55 to go. Western finally took the lead for good thanks to the defense… -
Help for Big Job
I need some advice. My 82 year old father has given me an album (actually several, he has always been a shutterbug) of his photos from his time in France during the war. He wants me to figure how to copy these photos to help preserve and label them. The 1st big problem is they are glued on that old black paper. Some have…
