Re: And the winner is...
Do NOT use, or purchase, a microdrive if you camp outdoors in fluxuating temperatures or in moist / humid areas. They WILL die a miserable death and leave you stranded. (luckily I had my old N65 and some velvia for emergencies!) As far as multiple cards go, why get two 512's instead of a 1G card? If you're that concerned… -
Re: Pet photography help
haha (plain brown envelope + contents in the post) Well, a short story to judge whether I'm a fit person to take any notice of ... Recently gave my first ever presentation to a U3A* photography group who wanted to see the kit I use as well as some pics - I sorted out about 120 for an hour or so yak. Spent the first 15 - 20… -
Re: D300s now? Or wait?
Full frame costs a pretty penny to be FULLY taken advantage of. No pun intended. Even if a D600 comes out at around $1999, which it certainly could now that the D700 is discontinued, the lenses required to take full advantage of the FX frame will cost hundreds more. (A couple / few thousand, by the time it's all said and… -
Re: Freezing Action w/Speedlights
ISO affects exposure just like aperture and shutter speed. You'll see some articles discuss how that isn't the case and they'll show photos like the ones with people posed with city far in the background. That's completely different - when the ambient light is on your main subject (i,e. not two different lighting… -
Re: Nikon D700
My thoughts are if you're in no rush wait till the 24th and see what the new landscape of cameras is going to look like. If there is a new d700 replacement, then you can weigh the options of whether or not you really need the upgraded version. The new camera may end up being more then you really need. Some people dont use… -

Suggested Nikon D-300 settings
I intend to rent a D300 for a weekend from a local store prior to purchase to see if I am able to use is. I confess to using the auto / preset modes (a crutch) when I just want to grab a pic. I will likely be taking pictures of the family and hope to get to a park or an autocross to use the longer range glass. For the test… -
Dining room light documentary
Good Afternoon Folks, I shot a few pics while I was installing a dining room light last evening. I apologize for the long thread :D What's interesting is that the house I live in is over 120 yrs old, and the only original light on the 1st floor is in the kitchen. Yeah, oil lamps work well, and go great with the decor, but… -
(another) Dell 2209 WA / i1 Display 2 thread
I have posted my problems on a few other forums and have had no replies, so i hope i have better luck here than elsewhere. I have an HP w220h and a Dell 2209 wa.
