Re: Wildlife photography, crop sensor or full frame?
I have complained for some time that I REALLY wish Canon would build a follow up to the Canon 7D Mk II. It was not the equal of the 1 series bodies, but its AF was ptertty darn good, the sensor was pretty decent in good light, and I have thousands and thousands of frames of images shot with a 7D Mk II, far more than any… -
Re: 300 dpi
Take the number of pixels in the long dimension of your image (likely something between 3000 and 4500). Divide that into the long dimension of the print you would like to make (e.g. 24"). So 4200 pixels / 24" = 175 pixels per inch. Exactly how many pixels per inch you need for a high quality print depends upon the type of… -
Re: not in it for the $$$
cash from pics-it can be fun too i have the utmost respect for profesional photographers-dealing with clients, getting a shot to order, competing for jobs in a tight market etc etc. Doing a wedding or a commercial product shoot,or revolving door studio portaiture leaves me cold, even though this is how many professional… -
Re: Image stabilization - body or lens?
Some people might say that all you have to do to get an orchestra to produce white noise is give them a score by Arnold Schoenberg , not me but some people... A signal that goes from zero to some level, any level different than zero actually, in zero time contains an infinite amount of energy. Of course in real life you… -
Re: no one buying my prints after my gig
I don't know if certain ones flop, every event is also an opportunity to meet people who may have a future need. Sometimes getting them to your site is good, but not always. Also I don't mind answering question but to just basically say "Tell us everything you know", I don't have the time, unless you are willing to pay.… -
Re: Camera download vs. Card Reader?
When I'm shooting weddings with both a 50D and a 5D2 and using 4GB cards (the largest I currently have), I get 170 (50D) and 150 (5D2) RAW files per card. This means that I swap cards out a lot during the course of the day and I sometimes have to do it in quite a hurry. So far (knock wood), I've not damaged anything or… -
Re: Looking for lenses f/2.8 (for sports/action)
If you're looking for 1 lens to do it all, it's not likely to happen. Your best choice is a 70-200 f2.8 for the darker outside games. A good flash will be a big help at those night footbal games and may be a good option for your indoor games. Further reach in an f2.8 lens means a prime that's too long for your indoor stuff… -
Re: Blogging Ethics Question
Let's play a hypothetical here... You need roughly 10 seconds to explain to them the situation, 10 more 'explaining how to order copies', and 10 more pitching your services -- 30 seconds total (when you average out the old people who might need 4 minutes to understand what you are asking, the younger ones who answer… -
Re: What DLSR should I buy?
I am an Olympus user myself. I have the E-500. It is a remarkable tool for the price. The 8mp sensor is only matched by the Digital Rebel XT in the affordable DSLR (others are only 6mp). It's build quality is as good as the Nikon, and the lenses are fabulous. The two lens kit comes with a 14-45 and a 40-150 lens…
