Re: A Serious Problem We are Facing
I, for one, believe that a reasonable question deserves a reasonable answer, and an unreasonable question may also deserve a reasonable answer. <!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke… -
Re: Photos Look Blurry in CS5
I wouldnt look at the wiskers, because it dosnt look like you were focusing on the wiskers, because the end of his nose looks to be the edge of what was in focus when you took the photo. It looks like you had focus on the eyes, so when you are sharpening I would think it would be a good idea to go by the important parts of… -
Re: IR Cameras
For the sake of completeness, not all lenses that fit a particular dSLR are good for IR applications. Many lenses produce a "hot spot" and some camera/lens combinations exacerbate the problem. For Canon EOS cameras I created a list, gleaned from information out on the Internet. I have not tested all of these myself. The… -
Re: Buying memory cards and batts
I started out using Lexar as they were the mostly higly visible in mag ads and such...then I grabbed a SanDisk and then a PQI (slow, slow, slow slow...) then I tried Transcend after a lot of research.....I have had failures withh all (except the PQI...I returned it to store for another Lexar).....anyway I printed off all… -
Re: Alien Bees Flash Units...
As a lot of Dgrinners KNOW I really tout PRAISES for the Paul C Buff family of companies.......White Lightnings and Alein Bees.....I have never owned an Alien yet but will in the future.........my praise comes from the fact that I have been using WL lights for neigh on 25yrs.....they never gave me a problem until they were… -
Re: SmugMug Feature Requests #5
Suggestions from a new user I'm still in my 7 day trial period, and I think I'll end up staying, but here's a few things that I'd suggest from my initial impressions, from a non-pro point of view: 1) Allow keywords for password protected and private galleries. Make it a gallery-level option if you don't want to expose… -
Re: Mounted Flash Help for Nikon D50
Ziggy pretty much covered it, but let's get a little more specific. Since the D50 lacks both a PC sync terminal and the "commander mode" on the flash, you are somewhat limited. So, let's say that you want to use the flash on a flash bracket, attached to the camera. To make the flash communicate with the camera, you will… -
Re: The Great Nikon vs. Canon Debate
I think for a lot of photographers this is highly overstressed. Amongst other abuse I've dragged my silly little plastic Rebel all over the place on the mountain bike (did a couple of nice endos in Utah with it on my back!), shot tortoises in the rain in the Galapagos, got sand all over everything doing photo shoots on the… -
Re: 5D owners: some questions for you
I have both the 20D and 5D and I really love the 5D. Here are the things I like: 1. I love the way my lenses "make more sense" on a 5D. The 85mm f1.8 is magic on the 5D. It was too long on the 20D for many indoor uses. The Tamron 28-75f2.8 is a much better range (wide to mid tele) on the 5D. 2. Nice big files. Good for big… -
Re: 2nd Wedding
Thanks for commenting Scott. The hair was an issue for me the whole time I was there. Lucky for me, there was only a small gathering of close friends and relatives....so I was able to walk through empty pews to get around the side and back ( more or less) of the couple. This allowed me to grab a few shots during the…
