Lookout position....
This tiny jumper was stood just an inch away from a tiny hole in the brickwork - that's where she lives. The gap between cement and brick - but here, she appeared to be on lookout duty. There was a rather imposing bluebottle six inches away from here in the general direction ahead of her - I'm pretty sure that with those… -
DSS 56 - First Attempts at Panning
So I went out this evening to practice panning. First I went to the skate park. Many failures and one that might work. #1 Then I decided I needed to start with something that moved a bit slower and more predictably, so I went to the park. #2 #3 #4 I met some nice folks. #5 I also met some jugglers who meet at the park… -
Re: [Toroweap]
I have shots of Orion's belt I shot with a 10D at ISO 100, f4, 30 secs at 28mm on an APS based sensor. (The exif data is no longer available via Smugmug, so I looked at my original jpg for the exposure data - it is accurate ) I can see obvious star movement in large versions of the image. In Breugel's article he suggests… -
Re: A day in the life of dgrin! (an unofficial challenge)…
I assume we've a bit of latitude on how to put our post together? Some might tell a story along with the images, while others might allow the images to tell 100% of the story of the day? Should we also try to limit the size of the images, or at least to a maximim height, to save page space? In LPS we were limited to… -

Paste the code there just for your reference, this is what I pasted there myself (you have to get your own code since it… -
Re: About to Jump Ship on Canon- Change my Mind
I shoot mostly landscapes and macro. The two lenses I use for landscape are the Fuji XF10-24 F4 and the Fuji XF18-135 F3.5-F5.6. I can still get a fairly shallow DOF with these lenses - but I also have the Fuji macro XF80 F2.8 which is awesome! Fuji does have lenses at F2.8 for landscape, both a 16-55 and a 50-140. I… -
Re: Rebel XT raw+jpg question
I ordered a card reader, I just forgot it. I think I paid $5 from newegg. My lappy doesn't have built-in firewire so I went with usb2. I had to leave suddenly to come to fl (my mother is ill and that is where I am now) and the 2gb card that came free with my camera from newegg was backordered, so I had them send another… -
Re: Cold Weather
People with more experience may have more suggestions, but I have two: The battery will lose a lot of capacity of it is allowed to get very cold, so carry at least one spare, and keep it in an inside pocket if possible to keep it warm. Going from warm to cold is OK, but going from cold to warm risks condensation, which is…
