    Pole Barn @ Scout Camp
    3913257-M.jpg

The underside of the roof of an old pole barn at a local Boy Scout Camp where I spent last weekend.

It's not sephia-toned, that's the actual color under the available lighting. I tried it in black and white but the original looks best I think.

    Temporary Architecture
    3913261-M.jpg

So far, the pictures in this thread focus on permanent structures. But what about all those temporary creations that don't get a chance to stand the test of time (or where never meant to)?

Here's one I shot while at camp last weekend. It was brought into camp in pieces by the scouts and lashed together to create a cooking surface for a couple of days, then untied and packed back out.

My survey of UMass happened as promised on friday afternoon, but it took me this long to get them processed and uploaded, here goes:

Got ahead of myself... here's some good ones of old and new buildings contrasting each other:

And finally, these 2 small old buildings really caught my attention. They sit right next to the main drag through campus. The one I took the most pics of is being totally modernized inside, but on the outside, it could be one of the oldest bldgs on campus - check out the gutter spouts and arched stone windows. Very cool, if only my photos did it justice.

Speaking of contrast betweeen "new and old" -- here is a moat wall (approx 800 years old) outside of Osaka-jo (the "Osaka Castle" in Osaka, Japan), with a modern skyscraper in the background.
