The adventures of BAXTER DANBOARD!!!

Hi everyone. This is my first post on this big board and I figured I'd start out with my favorite set of pictures to date. The story behind this set is this: I saw some pictures on flickr that featured this small action figure called "Danboard". And I knew I had to have one:lust. So I went to Comic Con here in San Diego and bought one, name him Baxter Danboard, and stuck him in front of a camera:ivar. I've got about 25 pics of him so far. But I'll start from the beginning. I hope you'll agree they get better with time.
I'm pretty resiliant and very interested in getting better at photography. Comments and Critiques welcome. I've only been shooting off the little green automatic box since December 08.
Hot sauce where have you been my whole life?
What the f...?
Inventive little piglet isn't he?
Just a little bit further

Welcome to dgrin
Nice shots! I'm looking forward to seeing more.
I was thinking about doing something very similar to this a few days ago, but I haven't figured out who my character will be.

Baxter decided to brush up on his photography to prepare for his new Mini Danboard friend I just ordered today. He's pretty excited to get a playmate.
Hi, You're small...like me!
You mean these are edible?
Stinking cat...next time I'm going to leave him up there.
Baxter to Ent: I'm a manga character NOT a hobbit.
Ent to Baxter: Is that like an orc?
These are all shot with the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 prime. I love that little lens. My lighting for the shots is mostly just natural light. But I've made use of a desk lamp and a floor lamp on some of them since I don't have a real flash...

Pant, Pant, Pant...here I come...pant.
In the end all he was good for was pointing out the fact that I dripped on my carpet. After the fact of course.

This is a lot harder than it looks when you're only 5" tall.
Went to the cove today and got some GREAT shots with the help of my friend Patrick one of my first ever flash sunset type things.
And no...I didn't fake those tracks. They were really there!!
That's just incredible
Pride Rock
Flash whore thanks goes to Patrick. Without him and his flash this shot would be a black square

They look pro to me. Not so easy to "see" creatively but you certainly
make it look easy in this set. If you keep at it at this level or better
I'm certain you'll earn a star on the walk of fame. Very much looking
forward to seeing more cool pics from your efforts.
Also, welcome to Dgrin.
Looking forward to seeing more
You really should write a book for children with Baxter. It looks like you have some good ideas already and the pictures are just great. I am sure many children would love to read "The adventures of Baxter". Most of you shots are great, and you seem to bring the little guy to life. I really enjoyed the series and look forward to seeing more of them.
Kelly
Thanks! Its always a challenge to find more situations for him. But I'm working on it.
Kelly, Thank you. You're not the first to suggest a book. But I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that. I assume that since this is a character it would be subject to copyright laws just like a batman figurine would be. I run my own little marketing company and have never aspired to make money in photography so I don't see myself spending much time on researching publishers . Although it would be fun....
It made me sweat
Baxter likes different music than me, so when I have my stereo blasting, he rocks out to my iphone.
Baxter had a dream about flying through Lindt White Chocolate candies. They are undoubtedly his favorite.
(This was the most in depth setup to date. Baxter is actually suspended and so are the candies. Set up can be seen here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/creativesoup/3825612408/)
Raining Chocolate from Heaven- This is the part of the dream where it started to rain luscious chocolate all around Baxter.
And this brings you up to date with all the Baxter shots to date. The chocolate shots are the ones I'm most proud of. Most of the shots were "set up" and not just shot on the fly, but this was the most thought about.
Fantastic shots; each telling a story of its own. I love 'em!

Jessy,
I suspect this is good advise and might be better done today than tomorrow. You have a very appealing little character here.
Love it
