JP Thank you. and AFBlue I guess its something I should do... Its just wierd for me to take photography seriously... Its just something I do in my fun time. I run my own marketing company and so, yes I'm creative naturally. Baxter is just my outlet for all the energies I don't use up on clients But seeing the reaction to him, maybe I should. I'm not opposed to his sucess or too lazy to make it happen...its just all kinda hard to believe.
goldenballs this is for you then.
Baxter went on a little hike while I took some pics of the mossy rocks at the coast. I warned him not to get too close to the edge, but he didn't listen. Shortly after this pic, a large wave came from behind and took Baxter to the ground. He's recovering from a sprained ankle. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/creativesoup/3844166821/ here's the pic i was taking while he was horsing around)
Baxter got to see how big a blue whale is in real life at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Ca. He estimated it was 1,345,469 Baxter's big.
I'm also torn between showing the pics of Baxter in everyday life vs the "conceptual portraiture" like the chocolates. I know that the quality of the pics don't compare, but I hope that the 'day in the life' ones are enjoyable as intermediaries. I promise to keep up the time consuming shots as well.
A friend came over to visit. He brought his Sack Boy "Burlap"; over. We went and were visiting and in the meantime Baxter went a little postal. I don't know what Burlap did to deserve it, but I'm sure it wasn't unwarranted.
This one was set up with Sac boy suspended from yarn. I made the handcuffs from necklace clasp parts. The bed of nails are shoved through a layer of flat museum putty. The scene has a black photo album as a background and the light is coming from a desk lamp pointed at the ceiling and a small LED flash light pointed at the nails from under the frosted glass table top.
Oh he is from that game, and I love it too!! The game is SO much fun when you have a few friends to play it for. The first time you customize your sack boy in its costume and one of your friends blow you up and turn you crispy black you'll understand the draw.
Hey Jessy,
Add me on as another fan of your series. Every couple of days I have to see what ole Baxter is up to.
Also, what's the name of that saucy little pink minx in the above photo? She cracks me up and now I want one.
ROTFL "saucy little pink minx" That made me laugh out loud. Its toadette from Super Mario. I got her in a little chocolate egg with a prize in the middle.
Baxter was wondering why no more presents came in the mail today. After falling in love with the lens, I guess he just figured packages in the mail to open were a regular occurrence.

MAKE IT STOOOOOOOP!!!! Baxter does NOT like being woken up early, and this alarm clock is the loudest thing you can get. His little cardboard arms did little to dampen the sound of the bells.
I've been so lazy lately. But I got inspired tonight when my friend let me borrow his Lowell Omni hotlights so I set up this little shot on my bookshelf with a new clock I just bought at target.
Notice the slow shutter to get the ringing of the bells

Yep, I certainly noticed that. Nice shot, as usual.
I like to make pretty pictures. Maybe one day I'll be good at it.

While I was at Mammoth Mountain out here in California and making my way to Rainbow Falls, I see this photographer with a similar little traveling creature. Must make for a good traveling companion.
Oh, and I only mean creature in the nicest of ways.
Baxter and I got some bad news today. My dad has prostate cancer. Don't really know how to deal with it...so I took a picture of what my day looks like today.
Its low grade from what the doctor says, operable. But, man...just the word cancer sets your whole world in disarray.
AWE no, Jessy, so sorry to hear about that. Yes it is a real shocker, so many things go through your mind. Sending all the best to you and your Dad and family.
Just take things one day at a time.
I've been a "lurker", but when I read your last post, I HAD to comment. First, I will pray for you and your family--literally & sincerely. Second, my father became a "survivor" of bladder cancer two years ago and my mother became a "survivor" of breast cancer last year. "Low grade" prostate cancer has a MUCH BETTER prognosis than "high grade, poorly differentiated" prostate cancer.
My prayer is for strength for you all, guidance of the treating physicians and a quick cure so that you can be counting the days until he is a "survivor".:curtsey

Baxter is feeling the love. And so am I. This pic is the first one hot off the presses with my new 35mm 1.8/f Nikkor lens. Its perfect!
BTW Burlap looks like he came straight from
Little Big Planet
Hubby loves that game, I just don't get it

And another reflecting my feelings for this weekend.
The road ahead may seem daunting at times, but stay the course.

Those are awesome. And "real flash" are over rated. You clearly know how to work with what you have.
Man, I didn't read far enough through the posts before making my first reply. Sorry for that bad news.
