I keep getting this error:

Then, it works for a few seconds, then I'll get it again. Just thought you should know :)

Terrible timing too... just released a gallery of a car show, expecting a LOT of visitors and buyers today. Sucks to be me! But then, when is 'good' timing?

Either it's been fixed or only affects some sites because my site seems to be running normal.

I'm starting to a combination of this message and very slow response.
I've seen it on multiple sites - my own and others.

It's down for me! Not a good time to be down. I've got two clients with deadlines that need to view photos!

    Not normal at all.

Given today's problem was first reported about 2 1/2 hours ago, why is there still nothing on the status blog? Yesterday's downtime was not reported for many hours. What's the point of that blog again?

Nope, not often at all. SM has a good uptime record. Hang tight, it'll be resolved soon. :)

The issue 2.5 hours ago was about a 3 minute issue. This one is different and the blog is updated, sorry :(http://status.blogs.smugmug.com/

While funny, I do understand how people get upset over downtime.

One thing to remember.. When sites like SM go down, there are lots of VERY knowledgeable and dedicated experts working to get it back up. Sometimes things break--and, it can take a few minutes to figure out what broke.

Remember, SM isn't just one computer.. There are a LOT of pieces to the puzzle; dozens of machines that each do specific tasks, hundreds of devices for storage, etc..

Give it a few moments; it'll come back :)

Personally I have found SmugMug to be very good indeed. Of course any downtime is annoying but I reckon it'll be fixed soon enough.

    DavidTO, thanks for that!

He is very right, and the down time should be resolved shortly.

Thanks for holding on tight, and again, sorry for the issues!

503 error changed to a cartoon smuggy (a bit making fun of the fact that although the site was down, everyone there is unaffected as they have a UPS>)

In the past year, the few times I look at my own page it has been down 3-4 times. I have no idea how many times it is down when I'm not checking on it. The day I set it up it was down for nearly 24 hours straight after. Frustrating

Is it acceptable for a free hosting account, yes. Is it acceptable for a $60 a year professional service. Absolutely not.

I understand that things go wrong, computers have problems, etc, etc, but there are many many systems out there that are designed to protect for this having built in redundancy to take over when things do go bad.

Mine is up for renewal next month and i'm debating on renewal which is a shame as I do like the interface.
