Hi Samir, your feelings of the login screen is noted, I assure you. Thanks for telling us.
Oh, I know. It was 2am and I wanted to express my frustration. This is when the little things like having to grab the mouse vs just hitting tab (for the keep me logged in checkbox) irk someone.
I'm all about adding new features when it doesn't make existing efficient workflows less efficient.
It thrwarted a speedy login a couple of times this week...:cry I really miss the old login screen. It loaded faster and was faster to fill out and get to work.

Samir, we have heard and seen and registered your many posts on this subject. I'm so sorry this gives you trouble, Samir, I really am. I can't think of any other complaints we're getting from the login page. Happy to try and help if you like, standing by.
I know there's nothing that can be done. :cry. So every time it messes me up, I just post here to log how many times it thwarts me. After a year or two I'll be able to see how much time I lost.
It's an amazing plug-in, and I can't function without it for all my non-critical logins (forums and some sites). It works well with the new Smugmug login and if you keep autologin checked, it will have you logged in faster than you can type, tab, type, tab guaranteed!

We use Lastpass at SmugMug. I can't live without it.

Me neither. It's installed on 4 different computers that I use and has made me far more active on different forum communities since I don't end up having to worry about logging in and remembering my accounts

But that's really just crutch that I won't always have access too. I mean, I can type 50% faster on old school IBM clicky keyboards, but I can't carry one of those around with me all the time either. I just liked the old login. Yes, it looked old school and didn't have facebook connect capability, but it worked better for me than this one does.

You haven't researched or read about lastpass then I ALWAYS have it with me. Smart Phone, iPad, Laptop. And if I had none of those, I can get at the LP site on any computer, too.

While I use LastPass, generally like it and haven't found anything better, it has it's limitations.
When I want to check something or show something from my sister's computer at her house or on my sister's iPad, LastPass doesn't give me any sort of automatic login there. I have to do it the old fashioned way.
LastPass Mobile costs money and is only supported on some phones.
LastPass regularly reports errors when used from IE8.
LastPass doesn't work very well for me on some sites. In particular, it routinely fails on password protected Smugmug galleries and it never works seamlessly for me when logging in to my Smugmug accounts because I have multiple accounts and I log into all of them from www.smugmug.com.
LastPass doesn't properly recognize some Ajax-style login prompts on some sites.
Being able to get at the LastPass web site from anywhere doesn't reduce the number of steps required to login somewhere. That's a lot of extra steps to login to LastPass first. For it to save you lots of steps, it has to be installed on your local computer and you have to first login to LastPass.
Dunno John, I am on hundreds of websites a day. I couldn't do it without LastPass. Could. Not. And it's saved my bacon numerous times when I'm away and need password.
To each his own. I have none of the issues you're mentioning.

If you use only supported devices, never need to use a random guest computer (that won't have LP on it or that you wouldn't want to login to LP from), pay for the mobile version, install it on every device you use and encounter no bugs, then it might live up to your billing. I was just pointing out that there are many circumstances that others may run into where they have to face the old fashioned login dialog and actually type in a username and password. When it works, it is useful and I use it. But, it doesn't work everywhere.
I personally wish you'd make the Smugmug gallery password login work with LP all the time. It fails a lot of the time. Here's what I regularly see on password protected Smugmug galleries:

True, I didn't research it.
I'm old school I guess since I would actually like to know my passwords. I also use a phone for talking to people, and I like buttons versus touch-screens.
I like the KISS model--Keep It Stupid Simple. The more complexity, the easier it is to break. If I would've known the login UI was changing, I would've saved the old html and just kept a local copy of it that I could've used to login. 20/20 hindsight now.
We know. Respectfully, you're beating a dead horse here, we really get that you hate the new login. You've been crystal clear about it, Samir. I'm very sorry that you have to keep posting about it

If it's only for your own records, maybe you could put it in one of these ? wink

I'm closing this thread, as each time you bump it, it takes away from other help requests.
