The name of the square in my photo is Piazza Santa Croce and the name of the building in your photo is Santa Croce. So I think you are on the right track. If you can confirm that the building on the above phto stands in the same town we can be positive.

Many many years ago I climbed the stairs inside that double dome to the roof. I'll have to dig out those slides...
May be the stairs inside the Campanile di Giotto, that I climbed, is a little easier
At my age and with my knees, no stairs are easier!
But in Speyer, at least they had an elevator part way up...
