Non only that... you should be glad, because it probably moved up in ranking.... 93rd is really not bad at all. (seeing how most of my ideas are about 400th rolleyes1.gif or were not allowed to even exist). :cry The idea should have more votes now that it's been merged anyway, so it looks to me like you got a good deal.

Maybe... in looking at it that way.. but while the idea exists it's been asked for for years and still not in production so....... doesn't really matter either way. (shrugs)

The SM development roadmap is never certain. I've seen things that have been asked for years never even get started and other things get fast-tracked into production. ne_nau.gif

I think a mass delete feature is important for sure. It took me a week to delete 1000+ galleries leftover from a smugftp issue.

Yikes, that is scary. AND should not have been an issue had you need to delete them. It's their fault for not integrating therefore they should delete them for you. headscratch.gifYou are after all paying for a service.

It really is pretty simple stupid to implement, and they know that aspect. They are concerned about the repercussions/fall out if someone screws up. THIS is where it's necessary to completely have them fill out a disclaimer and sign their life away, and when they turn the feature on (have it optional) it will make them click yes 5 times to KNOW what they are getting into. However, other sites offer this already and on their forums/threads I never hear of someone whining about why they would not fix the issue, rather they were glad it was avail if they need it. The dev's need to wake up, along with the owner/ceo/cio and realize that the feature is needed and put it into practice. Hell, on another site I am on I have access to features no one else does. I have asked and they delivered. Same could be done here...

I'm sure they would have if I would have emailed the help desk. But with my luck, they would have accidentally erased something else and costed me more time. Better to write a script and keep running it until it finishes.

It can be developed via the API, and when I have time, I'll be making one for myself. If I can get it to be more universal, I'll make it available for everyone. But I agree, it's not the best way to have to deal with this issue. ne_nau.gif

Wonderful that you're so dedicated to this as well. I have your back my friend! Maybe if I win powerball I can get some dev's that will work at common sense items vs. just bs.. :) And we can create a photo site that will have people that will help and not just give smart ass answers to questions. Offer payments bi-monthly... Offer tiered pricing for people who don't sell a lot etc...

I think you'd be hard-pressed to make a business that runs as well as SM does for all the piecemeal stuff going on in the background. They've got custom coding, amazon, open source, and a bunch of other stuff back there (just like their support with dgrin, wiki, feedback forum, etc.). This is a very cost effective way to do business as it keeps from having to invent the wheel, but being the 'glue' between all these isn't easy, so I'm sure they're dealing with fires almost constantly just like we do when SM changes something.

If you've got $50, I know of a developer that can write the app for us...if I can find time to email him...

Nope, but we're not ignoring it either. We do not talk about when features under development are coming out. But we do listen to our customers, and I can tell you we're listening here!

I hired a developer to make something for this, and they stopped and didn't finish it. But I think the mass delete feature worked.

It's at your own risk, but if you want to try it, PM me and I'll give you the link.

It might have been brought up before, but there might be ones that don't know yet. With the SmugMug publish service in Lightroom, you can select multiple galleries and right-clicking on your selection allows you to bulk delete those galleries. With a shift selection you can easily select a whole lot of galleries and delete them all in one go.

StarExplorer also allows for this. It's available in the uploader section here:

There may be other tools that support bulk deleting, but these are the ones I know of.

Great to know! I didn't know SE had support for this. I might have to try it the next time I have this situation come up. clap.gif

I wonder if SmugLoader can do this...*runs off to post in support thread*

Pretty cool, seeing as the last time it screwed up and created 10000 galleries for me that SE was the issue and didn't have a rewind button. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed on here, but this is one of the major ones!

Hmmm...what exactly did it do? headscratch.gif Did it create a gallery for each photo versus putting all the photos in one gallery? Smugftp was having similar issues early in its development cycle. ne_nau.gif

I don't remember. I believe it was something like that, it created a 100 galleries and didn't put them in the right place. Soon as you came to my page it was all of these galleries. 1 for each rider I took photos of. (horse photos.)

Yep, that sounds like the same issue. Interesting.

I found out SmugLoader should be able to delete multiple galleries as well. thumb.gif
