I assure you, I did nothing to make it adjust to smaller screens. I suspect that these templates by default will adjust to the viewing screen. Perhaps you inadvertently un-did that??

I started with the NYX theme. I think I chose that one because it had the side bar.

That must be it....because I consciously didn't think I was doing it. Early on, someone suggested separating my logo and title.....maybe that did it! Who knows at this point!

    Thanks!

My suggestion? Start over, start fresh, easiest way to get rid of mistakes. i must have tried a half dozen themes if not more and have a whole site setup with the header on top but decided if I was going to use the collage look, I liked it better with that stuff in a sidebar. anything you have done with regard to how the site is organized (in the organizer) will be maintained. We're not talking about a lot other than making a menu and bringing in your logo and title. Before you pick a new them, copy any css into a text editor and then you can ad another css block and paste it in.

    Have fun!

    Really nice images!

I'd like to see the header take up less space so the slide show images are more prominent. Also if the favicon for Facebook was on the same line as the "like......" line, more space would be available for the slide show.

I'm also unsure of the difference between Portfolio and Browse galleries....

Thank you Karen! Really appreciate the feedback and suggestions! :-)

Think I'll try making the header menu text a bit smaller, and have been wanting to place the Facebook icon on the same line (but haven't yet figured out out to make that happen).

Working on an "About" page which will hopefully clarify the difference between "Portfolio" and "Browse Galleries". As a "Digital Arts & Media Specialist", my "Portfolio" is a collection of galleries featuring: 3D modeling samples, 3D renderings, technical illustrations, and HD Videos in addition to a few different categories of photography. Whereas the "Browse Galleries" link is simply just photography.

    Thanks!

Tough love is still LOVE!!!!! bowdown.gif

I have indeed tried to keep a record in Word of all the CSS coding I've collected over the last few weeks!!!!!

However, one more opinion, PLEASE (and anyone else for that matter!!!!!)......for MY site and the fact that my images are so varied.....

Would it be better to have multiple images on the Homepage or put the slide show on the Homepage?

Right now the slideshow is in the menu. Will folks spend time watching a slide show or more likely to peruse the Homepage with a few images to see if they are interested in looking further? I'd just like opinions....

I love your images they are so colorful! but I agree that there is a little too much going on around them. I would keep one of the nav bars, either side or top but get rid of one.

I had a half dozen or so that I tried too before I just kept going back to one.

    Hope that it helps!

Slideshow or not? That depends. Right now without any changes I would say slideshow because it is simpler. But if you redesign and end up with a simpler design then the multiple images may be fine. As much as I love slideshows on the homepage, for me, it just wasn't working so I used the multiple image. Ya gotta play and see what works.

Greg, FWIW, I think the menu should be fairly understandable. Further explanation in an About would be fine, but not necessary. Maybe rename the Portfolio to "Digital Arts", "3D & Digital Media" or "Digital Medial" with drop downs for 3D, illustrations and HD video.

And perhaps "Browse Galleries" could be "Photography".

Your portfolio dropdown is too long even on a large screen monitor. I'd recommend either not using a drop at all - just going to a high level folder containing all of the galleries - or reorganizing into two levels of entries.

Your navbar jumps when the hover color changes. I don't think that is good from a visual sense.

The login link on your navbar is for you, not for your viewers. I would recommend removing it; you can always log in at www.smugmug.com.

I like the clean look of your site.

You've hit one of my hot buttons though; you've removed the breadcrumb from your site without replacing it with something else. This leaves your viewers without a clue as to what gallery they are viewing.

See Are you really sure you want to hide the breadcrumb? Think of your viewers!. Yes, I know, that thread was written for legacy smugmug. It still holds true in new smugmug.

I have finally got my site to where I am happy with it. It was much easier this time around than the legacy site was years ago.

There is a lot of space up top. I'm guessing the header/logo is there somewhere? I just can't see it on my screen (24"). I'd also shrink the size of the social icons. They seem to dominate the bottom of the page.

My site is nothing special, just a place to share with friends and family. I prefer a minimalist look, and like viewing photos on a dark background. My intent is the "Featured" section and the menu will change as new folders / galleries are added. My impression is that the new smugmug will make the site more inviting, and easier for my guests to find what they're looking for.

I like having more room for the slideshow. I definitely recommend keep it! Laughing.gif!

The only thing I noticed was that your logo of your dobie stands out so much, that my eye drifted from the slide show up to the logo. Maybe less saturation and/or smaller??? Everything around your images is muted....that allows the images to pop so well.....

    Looking very good!

Thanks Karen. I looked at it again after you mentioned how saturated the logo was and agree. I have toned it down a bit and it definitely looks better. Thanks for looking.

I had this issue too. You can try to either make the logo smaller (mine is set to 950px) or make the header box a bit bigger. As per other's input, I also minimized or eliminated top/bottom margins.

Hmmm...I was contemplating removing my slideshow and switching to a single background image. But, after seeing your site, I may use a background image instead of the solid color. My suggestion would be to change the opacity of that background image in PS. I think it competes too much with your slideshow.

Thanks, I tried a muted version of the background and it seem a bit blah to me. I also tried some other cloud backgrounds. It's not chiseled in stone, so I switch back at some point.

    Thanks for your feedback.
