The Bicycle Thread

Wanted to start a thread on bikes that everyone is invited to contribute to. I know we have a fair amount of riders on here, so I'm sure this should be a good one! Thought about putting it in the 'sports' forum but I want any and all bike related posts. Artistic, action, adventure, commuter - whatever you like! I'll get the ball rolling...

Jens Voigt last year at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge during the Boulder stage. Nikon P7000 hand held as I was screaming 'shut up legs!'

Ah, nice SC Ian! Here is mine that is for sale, bittersweet but my new ride makes this one a bit superfluous.

I set the GoPro in TL mode and let it click away. Mounted to the seat post and checked with the iPhone app. I'm riding my Nomad (v2).

Laughing.gif. I just hopped down the cliff to hang on the beach. I was riding at a place called Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz.

New ride is fully complete! Got a few rides on it last week with my other wheels, but now she is ready to really rock!

Congrats on that fine-looking machine Nick.... I am, of course, turquoise with envy.
I read the specs/reviews and it looks like a great choice in a 29er - interesting geometry... I'm gonna check one out if I can find locally.

Thanks guys, absolutely loving the new ride. I was previously riding a 6" Tracer and a fully rigid Santa Cruz 29'er that were obviously opposite ends of the spectrum. I built this up to be in the middle of those two as much as possible. Goal realized! It is efficient yet playful with the slack geometry and short'ish wheelbase for a 29'er. I had a 70mm stem on it which was way fun, but changed it to a 90mm for more comfort for longer rides. I don't like that either, so an 80mm stem is on the way which should suit me fine. After about a half dozen rides I think I finally have it dialed in really sweet now. Too bad I'm sitting in LAX right now and can't ride!

    Another pic...

Nice capture! That isn't an easy feat, even for someone with good back handling skills!

Good looking action shots Peter - crisp, colorful, and the lighting was very even.
One of the nice things about (these) Junior Athletes is - I hope and assume - none of them are "jucied-up".

Just up to Portland and back then back to the hotel. Works for me as I've been working on launching my project of abstract images from the Pima Air Museum all morning. Finally ready to go 'live'!

Well my son is finally living up to my legacy. he finally broke his cheap department store bike mid season, up to now they have been squeaking by the season. He also discovered the fun that is riding a bike in a skate park.
So 8 years old we got him a good bike. This is a 2008/9 Hoffman Mantra 18" wheel bike. Far as I can tell everything on it is original.

Overall shot with the bike leaning against the wheel he broke on his cheap bike. He crshed the bearings in the hub, then still rode it for at least a week before I discovered it :)
    Hoffman_Mantra%20%281%20of%2014%29-XL.jpg

    Incredible condition considering the age.
    Hoffman_Mantra%20%284%20of%2014%29-XL.jpg

Even the tires are incredible, unfortunately the front tire has a nice bulge in it now so I guess we are looking at new tires this winter.
    Hoffman_Mantra%20%288%20of%2014%29-XL.jpg

Need to upload some of him riding it and add a couple of the bike I picked up so I can ride with him at the park.
