I think the barriers were to prevent moped drivers from using the bike trail - but it wasn't too easy to get through with the bikes, either...

I thought it was rather amusing that the Orlando (FL) bicycle rental units advertise walking tours!
On the Voie Vert between Nolay and Santenay in Burgundy - another great trail made by converting an abandoned railroad line into a bike path
