^ Ian, with gearing that low (what is that? 0.75:1?) you could climb walls!

Might be a couple of weeks before it arrives. Surprisingly enough, the shop I've been working through has been crazy busy and selling and repairing bikes! We're all locked down and bicycle sales are up!

Oh, how exciting! Congrats on the new acquisition.

Here in Germany bike shops were open for emergency repair service all during the big lockdown and were the first shops allowed to open at the beginning of May. Somehow Corona has reminded everyone here of the bikes in their garage and the bike trails are fuller than ever. And the bike business, which has been in an upswing anyway, is really booming. Unfortunately the boom hasn't brought the prices down for anything of quality.

Looking forward to pictures of your new bike and your outings!

We had an unusually strong wind event last Saturday; saw several tipping-over bicycles like this on my bike ride Sunday morning:

BTW: the building is the home of Liberty Media, among other things, the owner of the Formula 1 racing series.

The bicycle parking at a local hospital.
The sign says: "Max parking 15 minutes and only for the transport of patients" >:)

Not recommended as cycling terrain... I walked the bike for about a half a mile until I got to a path with mire dirt than loose gravel.

We have more than a few of these. Some are on the left side of the road and now feature walkers and runners-cyclists often skirt out into the street to get around them. As a driver, it sucks. As a cyclist, it sucks because you cannot ride in the lane dedicated for cycling.

New trail and new sign to me today but it really wasn't that steep; other trails in the area are much more challenging:

I chuckled. Only because it's probably in an area with a large number of inexperienced users.

Steep has different meanings depending where you are.

Steep in New Hampster is not the same as steep in Iowa.

Indeed, steep for whom? I would call that little rise relief from the boredom of a flat trail.

A few weeks ago during the first snowfall my partner and I took a ride with a bike buddy. You only noticed how slippery it was when you stopped and tried to keep your foot on the ground. Thank God for good tires.
