On top of a remote mountain in Colorado (one often finds large pieces of machinery in remote locations without a clue how it got there), building included for scale:
Mining is correct; I shot this in an area that was heavily mined for gold in the 1860s. Considering the gears at the top and bottom of the vessel, perhaps some sort of centrifuge? No other equipment laying around that could be related or connected in any way.
