Do you guys ever come "up" to Skyline Drive? I'd be up for a weekend of leaf (and critter) peeping.
I've been up there once to hike - not to shoot. I'd love to come up there to shoot some time.
I'd be up for a Parkway Visit.
I think mid October-early November will be the right time for leaves. I'm guessing that Saturday is the day that works best for the most people? (Sundays don't work at all for me, though I could make a weekday work.)
The only Saturday I have between now and mid-November is October 11. Does that date work for anyone else?

I'll be on the Dgrin shootout in Utah and in Nevada from Oct. 7 - 17th. I could do Oct. 25-26.
I used to go to Shenandoah every year on Oct. 19th and the foliage was pretty consistantly brilliant at that time. If you can get up there on the 11th you'd probably have great colors too!
I'd be interested in a Shenandoah trip either date, and possibly both. Being that the park is in Virginia we might want to start a thread just for this, since there are probably a fair number of Maryland/Virginia/Pennsylvania people that are within an few hours of the park. Baltimore MD, Washington, D.C., Harrisburg, PA, and Richmond VA are all within 3 hours of the park. Pittsburgh PA, Philadelphia, PA, Charleston, WV, as well as all of Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware are within 5 hours.
For anyone (thinking particularly of Pupator who I think is about 5 or 6 hours from the park) thinking of turning this into a multi-day trip, the in park lodging appears to be booked solid both weekends from what I can see online. There are towns in the area that have rooms available both weekends. In addition for anyone thinking about camping, all the reservable spaces for the weekend of the 11th appear to be booked (there are first come/first served spaces as well, but no guarantees of availability). There are reservable spaces at some of the campgrounds the weekend of the 25th still available.

Lastly, in order to add a few photos to the thread, these were taken at Shenandoah on October 21st of 2007, and all are SOOC i.e. no enhancing of colors in photoshop etc.:
I wasn't planning on going that far north. We've got plenty of leaves and mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway right here in my own state.
The Shenandoah trip would be a great one - but I'll be up that way the first weekend in November anyway, so I can't make the trip twice this year. Don't let me stop you from organizing another one though!
I'm going to come up with an itinerary for a more NC-based trip that I'll post soon.
I'll probably do just that... The way you and Phyxius were talking it sounded like you were contemplating a Shenandoah trip, didn't mean to hijack the thread...

No hijack at all! Like I say, it's a great idea for a trip, and one that I'd love to take in the future - but I wasn't clear in my original post about what the itinerary would be.
Ok, I'm definitely going to be making a trip Saturday Oct 11 up the BRP. The wife is going to be out of town so I'm going to get up pretty early and hit the road. More specific itinerary to follow but I thought I'd confirm the date at least in case any of you guys can go.
Anyone up for a San Antonio meetup?
I posted this in two meetup threads, Central US and Southern. For those in West Texas, maybe I should've done "Western US" also! If anyone is interested in a meetup for San Antonio SM/DG, please make a post or send me a message. No specific timeframe in mind.
Cheers,
Lauren

Well - here we are again, headed toward leaf-changing season in the south. Anyone up for a day trip? I'm thinking anywhere within a couple hours' drive of Asheville (otherwise the whole day is spent driving!).
We've got a little one now so I've got no desire to do an overnight (sleeping in a hotel room with a 9 month old - yuck!) but I'm up for a full day of shooting.
Tomorrow July 29th, 2010 the Miami SmugMug User Group officially begins! We are actually a South Florida User Group based in Hollywood Florida.
We have the first 5 meetings scheduled with 24 RSVPs for tomorrow. We will be taking a few fun group photos to commemorate the occasion. We welcome all Dgrinners and lurkers.

Hi,
I'm just wondering if there are any Smugger meetups in the Tampa area?
Thanks
Were you looking for just general Dgrin meetups or SmugMuggers? Check out the SMUGs Find page. They do have a Tampa group that meets regularly
