Well just learning my way around dgrin... & saw this thread today...

This weekend I thinking of alternatives for the lunar eclipse that will occur on the east coast right near moonrise on Saturday night...

Also, thinking of Sunday going to NY botanical garden as my employer is a corporate sponsor :-)
    I take lots of pictures--sometimes I make a photograph.

    Long Island
    Hey All,

I'm new around here, but have been at dpreview for years and also just started hanging out at another photography site...

I'm trying to put a group together for the Long Island/NY area where we could maybe meet regularly (semi-regularly) and discuss photography and go out shooting.

    I'm in central Suffolk County...

    Anyone interested?
    Amy :D

    Manhattan
I'll be in NYC on Tuesday (6/5) and Wednesday (6/6) of next week and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a couple of locations or more importantly, places to stay away from.

I'm hoping to come away with some evening shots of the Brooklyn Bridge/city skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and any other spots near the Financial Dist. Any help or suggestions on locations, times of day, how to get there would be greatly appreciated!!

NYC on the 4th of July
I'll be in NYC over the 4th of July and I'm looking for the best location to shoot the fireworks with Lady Liberty. If anyone can make a suggestion I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you want her in the shot I'd have to say the Brooklyn Bridge, however if cars are running on it you get a bit of shake.
    Thanks, Robert

The New York City Photography/Photo Safari Meetup Group is meeting up tonight at 6:30 PM

    Where:
    Outside Cosi Restaurant
    1633 Broadway
    New York , NY 10019
By popular request, our next MEETUP will also be a Photo Safari to TIMES SQUARE.
(Ooooooh, bright city lights, funky people, hooooray!)

Bring your camera and high iso film or settings.

We will meet at 6:30 PM at 1633 Broadway. This is large office building between 50th and 51st Streets, on the West side of Broadway with a "public arcade" area in front of the building. (Benches, etc.)

We will start congregating there around 6:15 PM and wait until 6:45 when we will proceed down Broadway into Times Square. Do not bring tripods. (You cannot obstruct the sidewalks, and the group usually moves along too quickly.)

    ********************NOTE*********************
IF IT IS RAINING, WE WILL GO TO THE SKYLIGHT DINER
    402 West 34th St. Between 9th and 10th Ave
In case of rain, we have no event. This would just be an impromptu get-together

Hi. I live in Maryland, between Baltimore and DC. I would be interested in meeting up with folks to do some shooting in the area. Let me know if you're going to be in this neck of the woods and we'll see what we can arrange.

    Thanks,

    Howard

    New York < New York
Name the time place, Lets go shoot ,we can make a killing and have a great time. If you want a different perspective I would recommend a tour bus it has drop offs and pick up in different location in Manhattan ranging from uptown all the way to downtown . allot of flavors and colors. As a New Yorker have not been a tourist in my own backyard but it would be a great learning experience to see NYC from the perspective of a guest in NY.

Looking like I will be in the greater Boston area again end of second week of April. Can arrange an extra day or the whole weekend if a Boston-ish shoot can be arranged for that weekend!?

Hey Ann depending on who you talk to DC is considered "South" so I'll post this in the south meet-ups also!! thumb.gif (It's really mid-atlantic, but MD & VA are below the Mason-Dixon line and were with the south in the war between the states...or the war of the northern aggression...or the civil war, again depending on who you talk to. However, MD did not join the Confederacy. You should read the lyrics to the Maryland state song...eek7.gif you'd never guess it's set to the tune of O Christmas Tree rolleyes1.gif )

    Further north?
I know some of you have to be further north than NYC. How about Maine? NYC is too much of a haul for me. And the last time I went down there, my husband almost died on the trip back. No joke. :twitch
