Cool. I'll be interested in seeing the shots. I've been extremely happy with my Canon 500 since I've gotten it.

Wish I could be there. Don't suppose you'd want to do something on the other side of the Country mwink.gif

And the best part of the shoot is that Andy is carrying the glass around for Ian and myself. Since we will be doing the shooting Andy will have to do something useful. biggrinbounce2.gif

There'll be a lot of interest in this. Have you agreed the format? Are suggestions invited?

    Format? rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

Andy seems to have an "anything goes" style these days.

It was the reference to a "formal" shootout that I particularly noticed. I'm sure they will adopt a very practical approach, but hopefully they will be wanting to come to some conclusions (not necessarily, agreement!).

Are you both going to use the same sensor size??? :):

Oh, that's right, there is no full frame Nikon sensor. eek7.gif

    I guess you'll have to use a 20D Andy!thumb.gif

But wait!! That is a consumer grade Canon AF, versus Harry's pro grade Nikon focusing mechanism?

How is this going to work out? ne_nau.gif

How about we eat some ribs for lunch, go out and do some shooting, have some ribs for supper, knock back a few Coronas and then repeat the process the next day.

However gets the least rib sauce on his glass is the winner.

    Well, we'll have:

    Canon 5D
    Canon 1D Mark II
    Canon 20D

    to pit against Harry's
    Nikon D2H and D2X (?)

I'm right now working out Harry's handicap factor, we don't want to make him look too bad naughty.gif

We will have to figure which cameras to use. I have the D100, D2h and the D2X. I'm sure that Andy and Ian have a number of bodies to choose from also. Now the body issue alone will make the lens test meaningless. What if I opt to shoot with the 4 MP D2h against one of their megapixel monsters?

Then if we use remotes to trip the shutter release that will have an impact. Then there is the questions of tripods.

In the end we will have some pics. the Canon folks will declare the Canon the winner and the Nikon folks will declare the Nikon the winner.
All in all it means nada. It will be a lot of fun though.

Andy and Ian don't stand a chance. Through the use of adversion therapy I have trained the gators to attack white lenses. I see some rare photo ops for myself in the near future. :D

But this is a 'major' - played 'off the stick' from the 'tiger' tees.

Harry wouldn't want to be accepting shots and shooting from the ladies' tees, surely!

Sure I'll take any edge I can get. My main edge is that I'm gonna fool them. I'm going to shoot sober. They will never expect that. rolleyes1.gif

Wow, I didn't know that PMA will be in Orlando. I just happen to be visiting Florida the last week in February. Very interesting... I just might have to check it out.

Try not to get any Corona or rib sauce on the lenses. :D

Let me know if you need a spare sherpa. thumb.gif
