    Great Deal
    I'm a sucker for a deal.

I followed the links posted above and my 70-200 2.8 IS arrived a few days ago. Went out immediately to catch the afternoon light on my boys.

    20071101-IMG_0662.jpg

I was tempted by the Fall Instant rebates, but when I saw that I could save an additional $100, I was hooked.
    Thanks guys.

B&H attends, and often sponsors, various trade shows, seminars and conventions throughout the country. Whenever we attend these events we offer promotional "Show Specials" catalogs which include special promotional pricing on a variety of popular products. These specials are designed to be exclusively for show attendees, who often incur considerable expense (travel, lodging, entry fees) to participate. For the convenience of show attendees we include product sku codes so they can easily avail themselves of these specials.

In the past, the links to show specials were inadvertently widely open to non-attendees. New website updates have made it possible to handle these specials as they were always intended to be handled -- available to show attendees for their use. If someone attended an event we sponsor or in which we participate, printed catalogues were distributed or handed out at our show booth. If anyone wants to order, he or she can simply refer to the catalog, find the items he or she wishes to purchase, and call with special product code. If someone attended a show and did not receive a "Show Specials" catalog, he or she can call, stating which specific show, date, and city location attended, and what products are sought and we will assist the customer.

Here are the codes for those who attended the show but either lost or did not get the Special Catalog. Please only use these codes if you attended the show. It will be by the honor system

Just a FYI, make sure to check the price w/o the coupon first. For example, the xti black body is 15 bucks cheaper WITHOUT the coupon...odd I know.

    Hi Pamela,

You enter that code in the Search box and it will show you the items it applies to. In this case it applies to a Canon 580EX II speedlite for $410. I don't know if that's a good deal or not. I'm a Nikon guy.

    It's a product code, not a coupon

Those codes are not coupons, they are product numbers.

You have to search using the "special deal" product # (PS1107ETGUL here), then order from that product page to get the deal. If you order the very same product (580 EX II in this case) using its usual product web page (CA580EX2), you'll pay a higher price. ...Unless the deal has expired, in which case the two pages will display the same price. It appears that particular deal has expired, since it shows a $409 price either way.

Become a NAPP member (join at http://www.photoshopuser.com/join.html) and get free shipping from B&H.

One of the (many) benefits/discounts of NAPP membership is free shipping from B&H -- as far as I can tell, on everything. That alone could pay for the membership, over a handful of B&H orders (or one or two big orders!). But you'll probably start smiling when you browse all the other discounts available (but I think you need to be a member before you can view all the discounts).

So in other words, for the casual user/pleasure photographer, there's not much out there? I just picked up a Canon G9 from B&H (based on all the kudos here, I chose B&H over some less expensive alternatives-I've yet to go wrong with such solid advice from dGrin or ADV Rider) and am about to order a camera for my sis as well. While all the talk about discounts sounds attractive, even between two of us there's just not the volume to justify the 100 dollar subscription.

If an item is sold out everywhere, chances are there won't be a deal or sale on it anywhere until supply is restored.

    NAPP Membership Justification?

Few of us could justify NAPP membership cost just based on the NAPP member discounts (unless maybe you were ordering a bunch of heavy studio eqpt from B&H).

If you otherwise find NAPP's Photosohp User magazine useful, you need to add in whatever value you get from that. For some folks, that alone is worth the $99/year subscription. For me, that alone wasn't quite enough to push me to sign up for NAPP, but the discounts -- esp the B&H shipping discount when I was putting together a larger order -- finally pushed me over the edge.
