I have a folder with about 3200 wallpapers that I switch between. Most are shots of military jets (F-14's, F-15's, F-16's, F-18's), planes, and video games.

    Some magnificant shots guy's/gal's!

Been a while since my last post... my stuff is 'dry' next to yours.

I alternate about 20 or so desktops, but here are a few of them...

The above are my work. The below picture was taken by a close friend and I did the B&W conversion. He calls its a 'group' effort...

My husband makes fun of me, because every time he sees my desk top I have a different image on it. This is what I have on it today:

... glad you liked it. I just learned about putting a light source behind my monitor a few weeks ago. Its rather amazing how much easier on the eyes it is. It makes the long nights of editing so much better. The rest of my room is slightly darkened but not nearly as dark as the photo. I just thought it made a better photo to darken it a bit. lol.

Here's a link to Bias Lighting
A more detailed explanation can be found Here

I never would have thought it made any difference but it does. I just used an ordinary fluorescent bulb. I haven't found a daylight fluorescent bulb yet. But it seems to work fine.

    Glad you liked my setup.

Great desktop, Billy and very timely information on the Bias lighting. I just came in to do a search on lighting for my computer room as I am really experiencing eye-strain. So the first thing I see is this thread and decide to check it out before doing my search...what a coincidence! Thanks for the great advice.....I usually come up empty handed when I search anyway! rolleyes1.gif

Thanks Saurora, and your welcome, glad it helped. But let me stress that my room isn't as dark as the photo. Like i mentioned i just darkened the photo for effect. In my room i have no overhead lighting on that would reflect on the monitor. Just a small lamp(flourescent bulb) off to the side and rear of the room. Then a small fluorescent bulb in the lamp behind the monitor. So there is actual light in here. Lol. I don't think a totally dark room would be good.
This setup definitely helped me with eye strain and headaches. As well as with my new monitor which is very bright even when the brightness is turned way down. The bulbs i use are 15 watt fluorescents which equate to about 40 watt regular incandescent bulbs i think, that i got at Wal-Mart. Very inexpensive(less than 10.00 each). They look like cork screws, Laughing.gif.
I hope if you give it a try it works for you as well as it does for me. It really makes a big/huge difference for me. Just try different setups before you settle on one way. My lamp behind the monitor is a goose neck type with a shade. I point it at the wall and not toward the monitor so i get reflected light coming back around the screen. Hope it helps and i'm glad you got something out of my post. Lol.

Not to take away from this thread, but I just happened to have a 20watt daylight flourescent bulb to try, so I put it in a small desklamp (with no shade) and put it behind my monitor. Works wonderfully....immediately helped me from squinting at the bright screen....soft diffused light over the entire wall. Thanks again! :D

Hey Saurora thats great! I'm glad to hear it... and its cool you already had the right bulb. I still need to try and find me a daylight type one too. Wally World doesn't have them as far as i can tell. I hear Lowes has them. But i haven't found time to see for sure, but my regular fluorescent bulb one works good until i do. Oh and i don't think your taking away from the thread. It is, what is your "desktop" background. Lol.
