I tried to get Bryan (rider) to show up sharper in the picture but his crank case broke when he was pedaling in the hit for a second time.

Uh-oh! This one hasn't been visited in a while... Sorry for dragging up such an old assingment... I really liked it though!! It's definitely an awesome technique to at least know about... I shot these the other night... It's an old carousel in a tourist trap area of San Diego... hope they do this technique some justice!! :D

Thanks for bumping this! I was looking at it awhile ago and thought I needed to practice panning. The MX races worked great for that. Here's my entry.

    PanningAssignment.jpg

    Shutter: 1/160
    F Stop: F/8.0
    ISO: 100
Used my SB600 for some fill light.

A carousel is a great test subject for this class! I'd say you give it another go and try various shutter speeds to zero in on the perfect blur/freeze ratio.
    PS
    WB seems off:-(

It really was the perfect subject!! clap.gif
I got to stand there for a while trying to stay steady durring the pan... these are 2 of maybe 100, most of which suffered from being OOF or me shaking vertically... rolleyes1.gif
But I like the results!!!!!! So I will definitely give it another try next time I'm near the carousel!!
