    Adam,

Thanks for the great plugin. Just curious, is there a reason why you don't have an option for the a photo to load in a lightbox on top of the current site, with the photo being downloaded from the smugmug URL?

I want my visitors to be able to click on a thumbnail and the lightbox to run on top of my site... and the photo display there... so that they don't actually leave the site or load a new window.

Is this something that is possible?

    Hi BinaryEric,

it sounds like the feature you're requesting is part of the basic package--check out http://www.alphabettravel.com, which is my site where I've got wp-smugmug up and running. If that's what you're looking for, then it's achieved by making sure you have something like Shadowbox JS enabled on your site. You then just choose the option 'Lightbox' in the 'Link Destination' section of wp-smugmug. There's even a link to a version of lightbox, alternatively if you'd like shadowbox JS, it's here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shadowbox-js/

    best

    Displaying a specific photo
I've looked through this thread and the page on the plugin, but can't see how to display a specific photo. Is that possible?

I am able to display using the RSS feed. Temporary test page here.

Very nice plugin! I'm not getting any EXIF data for any of my images in my RSS feed though. Can this be done?

I too am curious if a single picture can be displayed with this plugin?

    Linked Captions
Has anyone figured out how to get their captions to be links when viewed in the lightbox on your website?

Either SmugMug's RSS feed is stripping the link html from the caption or WP-SmugMug isn't passing the information correctly.

I would love the ability to have the captions to all of my photos linked to various websites. I've tried everything I know to do.

    Thanks,
    Joseph

Is there any alternative to this plugin out there. I have it working on a couple of sites and it works beautifully but the latest one uses the Simple-Press forum plugin and the two do not mix. If I activate wp-smug it works fine but the forum shuts down.

I found this plugin while choosing the ones I want for my new WP site, but it says it is only tested through v2.8.5. How well does it work on 3.0.1? If it works, are there any changes that need to be accounted for? Thank you!

Also, since I don't really understand RSS feeds (next thing to learn on the long list of things to learn), do the links to the SM photos give any link juice in terms of SEO?

I am having trouble using this plugin with search based RSS. Example: I search my smugsite and paste the provided RSS link > Doesn't work. Only provides a dead link back to "View this gallery on smugmug".

It works fine if I simply use a galleries RSS feed, but I really need to be able to use it on keyword/search based RSS. From what I see earlier this thread it can be done, but after following the instructions it's now working for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to give mad props to Adam! Smugmug made some changes that broke the functionlity of the plugin, but within hours of being made aware of the issue Adam had released an official update with a fix and some new features. Killer! Thanks again!

December 20th, 2008: UPDATE BY ANDY: NEW Version here!

    Everyone:

I just released WP-SmugMug, a plugin for WordPress and SmugMug today. Specify the RSS feed url for a SmugMug album in your post, and the plugin will display thumbnails and links at the end of the post content. The HTML and CSS is customizable in WordPress's admin section.

You can see examples of the plugin in action here:

    Download the plugin from here:

    Enjoy!

Hmmm, When I add the smugmug images to my posts they list themselves, one photo per line, instead of grouping nicely.

I'm not sure if this is due to the fact my WP layout is defaulted to 2 columns or ?

I'd love to get this sorted.

    Aligned Off Center
I haven't been able to figure out why this displays my thumbs just a bit off center... toward the right side of the page.
    Any thoughts?

Having problems with wp-smugmug...hoping someone here can help?

Installed the plugin (v 2.0.8) with latest update of WordPress. I've tried several different feeds/options/etc, and I either get nothing at all, or (more commonly) -
Fatal error: Call to a member function get_thumbnail() on a non-object in /home/wizbot5/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-smugmug/wp-smugmug.php on line 395

When I did a search for that error, I noticed dozens and dozens of websites with the same error, most of which looked like they used WordPress.

So it seems there's some sort of incompatibility between WordPress, SmugMug, or wp-smugmug.

But for other people it seems to be working? Like user cshoresal above this post, his/her site seems to work fine and looks like it's integrating wp-smugmug?

Are there other Plugins that have to be installed/activated for this to work right? Is this some problem with too many images trying to load or something?

I saw another user having the same problem said they fixed it by reverting to wp-smugmug v 2.0.6. Anyone else have success with this? If so, where would I be able to find this, since I can only find the newest versions through WordPress/wp-smugmug's website.

    Thanks!

Is there anything interesting on line 395 of wp-smugmug.php? It seems that would be in the part following this section:
    # Description: Processes the shortcode text for WP-SmugMug
    #
    # Parameters: atts - array of attribute names/value pairs
    # content - the text between the shortcode tags (optional)
    #
    # History: 2008-12-02 - Initial version (adam)
    # 2008-12-31 - html_entity_decode fix for PHP4. Added #wp_smugmug html fragment to paged galleries
    # 2011-04-16 - use fetch_feed instead of fetch_rss. Support for new image paths in SmugMug. Removed
    # support for WordPress paged galleries.
But I don't know where to go from there, sorry.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if anyone is still looking at this but I had a question about this plugin. All my Smugmug galleries are set up to the style Traditional. I am using the wp-smugmug plugin to use RSS to update a WordPress page with all images that I have put in under a Gallery called Prints. This part works great. All the images are showing up on my WordPress page. The problem I'm having is that when I click on the image, it takes me to the gallery page rather than the image page. As an example, here is my Prints page:

    http://www.abbeygailelaine.com/prints/

If you click on a thumbnail, it takes you straight to the gallery page and then from there, you'd actually have to click on the image again to get to the image page that has all the purchasing options, etc. I would like for the link to go directly to the image page rather than the gallery. Is it possible to do this? Are there any other plugins that might offer this feature?

Thank you so much for your help!

    Error on Line 505
This is really strange. I have 3 different SmugMug galleries on the same site, different pages. Two of the galleries work without a hitch, the 3rd one has the "line 505" error displayed on the screen. When searching for an answer, I noticed several pages of sites that have this issue indexed in Google. No suggestions of a fix were found. I have version 2.0.9 installed on my WordPress site.

I've read, and communicated with SmugMug to verify, that they are having some issues with RSS feeds, but only with Chrome. I even downloaded all the pictures from the gallery and re-uploaded them to a different gallery. The problem still exists.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Hi all. I'm having a similar issue with the Fatal 505 error. I'm trying to link an unlisted gallery to my Wordpress blog using WP-Smugmug plug in. I turn on external links and grab an RSS or direct photo link, paste it into the Smugmug bit on my blog post, hit send to editor and publish. What I get is all my CSS them styling corrupts and I get just plain text, along with this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Error::__destruct() in /home/XXXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-smugmug/wp-smugmug.php on line 505

Any ideas? It's driving me up the wall! Thanx.

Sorry for the stupid question, but is there a feature either built in to SmugMug or part of WP-SmugMug that allows me to quickly insert a single photograph along with the caption and a link? I know how to do all of that manually (actually, I don't know how to include caption content as feed...but I can do copy/paste) but would love the lazy option if that is possible.

    my photos at smugmug: http://photography.colinpurrington.com/

Hello, I'd like to echo the recently discussed "line 505" error. It seems to be something with the "destruct" command, and I've read something about wordpress 3.0 not using that command anymore? I honestly don't know anything about it... if I did I'd fix it myself! But alas, I don't know nothin'.

Also, I am getting a "WordPress database error Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes for query INSERT INTO `wp_options`" error as well. It seems to be for only one particular gallery from my smugmug, but I can't determine it since most of the error log is filled with gobbledygook... and a lot of it too. In one day it creates a 145MB text file... I had it up to 1.5 gigs one day!

Again, it seems to be only for one particular gallery and has only happened on one of my 2 sites that use WP-Smugmug. Any insight to each issue would be appreciated. I may start my own thread here if I don't hear anything relatively soon. Thanks!

Can the plugin display one photo linking to several?
    Hi Everyone.

Searched all over here, firstly, must say that the plug in is great but unsure if I am able to do the following....

I want to display one photo in a post or page but when clicked on, it is enlarged but any clicks after that scroll through photos in the gallery.

At the moment I can display 100 photos seen here http://www.chocolatebones.co.uk/blog/sample-page/

but I would like to maybe ave one visible photo that then links to all the rest, hoe this makes sense??

Any help much appreciated, like always, the answer is probably so easy for a teckie type like most of you lot, any help much appreciated.

    Kev
