So I am back in town (where it is a balmy 51 degrees this evening!) and it appears that everything is back to normal. This little incident was clearly a COMCAST issue and I can't help but draw a few conclusions from the experience:

Smugmug has once again proven how responsive they are to users with problems (thanks guys)

Comcast is clearly a ... cable company....their tech support people ....know how to read (small monosyllabic words)....and...um...if the new Verizon fiber optic service would only come to town I would sign up for it any cost (already have DirecTV)....Could smugmug buy and run an ISP in NE Florida (you could charge double...)

I think now is a good time to recommend my favorite ISP, Speakeasy.net. They are nationwide and provide extremely excellent Smugmug-style service. I've been a customer since moving into my house in 2001. I had DSL for five years and last summer switched over to a T1 line from them and always have been very satisfied with their level of service. I would suggest going to their site and see if they provide service in your area.
