She won. If anybody wants it I can get you a copy of the McClatchey v. Associated Press. It's too long for a single post here. That would require multiple bumps of this thread.
Is there any other articles relating that same case, such as a follow-up or anything?
I am wating for the follow-up which I believe will be a decision on damages (assuming the A.P. does not appeal).
I track these things (occasionally) as part of my full-time career - mostly with regard to patents. So sometimes its hit -or - miss when it comes to copyright cases.
Are we sure it's the same image?
I can see several office light diffrences in the picture...Also, the building to the right of the two tall buildings in the middle of the picture is spaced away from it. Where in his pic they are photographed as being over lapping? I know you can do a lot with photoshop, but can you move buildings?

Much to my embarassment, the photo in the film wasn't mine (which is why this thread has been running for so long. )
Thanks for making me have to admit that again! :bluduh

Oh crud! I hadn't read that part, I skipped all the way to the end, I love your shot though! And they are right, your shot is A LOT better than theirs!

I felt it was my duty, after reading through 25 page, to post something, anything on this thread even if I didn't have anything important to add.
You read all 25? Wow. Hats off to you. And, in this case and this thread, posts without much additional content are actually encouraged, if just to bump the thread back to page one every now and then. You did good.

Make him lower his energy bill....
I think Al Gore and Co. could have afforded to contact you and pay you for rights to use your picture.
But....be careful. You'll start getting hate-mail from all kinds of tree huggers who think Al Gore can do no wrong. Death threats, personal insults, people questioning your sexual orientation and things of that nature.
You should contact some media outlets who don't kiss Gore's ass and get some publicity and maybe you'll get some legal assistance to fight Big Al's lawyers.

Dusty, as it turned out, it wasn't his picture in the movie. But we still talk about it like it was. 'Cause we can.

almost 10K views...this is still the most entertaining thread I've ever encountered on dgrin...by a mile! I'll never forget the night I finally read the whole thing, internet entertainment at its best....
We may need to ask Shay/Erik to develop the rules and Baldy/Andy to cough up some prizes.
The rules for a contest based on this thread might be a problem. Or there could be no rules. And prize(s)? I can only think of one prize that could beat out all others — and that would be to have the winner's photo somehow displayed in an upcoming movie.

But its true, its more likely when than if, will our images get taken by somebody, intentionally or unintentionally.
That 911 photo example is a good one. Is there any other articles relating that same case, such as a follow-up or anything?

The thread did keep my attention it was like watching a movie I laughed, I cried...
This thread is about movies, right? :confused
Dgrin can be quite moving sometimes. I cry over it every day too, but have finally put this thread emotionally behind me.
