Well, I tried but must be missing a piece and can't get to bottom of it; tried the posts and think I did what you said would fix the slideshow on the "homepage" - quit working in IE 7 and so tried the fixes in this post.

Can you help me untangle the script?

www.wildstate.com (http://redskeeter.smugmug.com/gallery/1260309) is the offending gallery I use for the slideshow.

Thanks everyone, great site, great features, great support!

Hi Red,

I made a small change to your slideshow code in your footer. Can you check now?

In your footer code change this
slideshowAlbumId = "1230191";
to this
slideshowUrl = "http://redskeeter.smugmug.com/gallery/1230191";

Edit:
On further review you have the slideshow in a gallery and not the homepage.
I think you have to change this also.

Change this
if (YD.hasClass(document.body,'homepage') && !YD.hasClass(document.body,'galleries')) {
loadSlideshow ();
}

to this
if (YD.hasClass(document.body,"gallery_1260309")) {
loadSlideshow ();
}

Thanks Al, I truly appreciate your help. Didn't think to look at the footer changing with the code.... changes.

I made the changes you suggest and can get the slideshow to appear again on a retry - get the IE error everyone else is getting. (note, slideshow worked fine for months before something changed somewhere. Also, slideshow works fine in FireFox 2.0).

What I could not figure out is your comment about putting the slideshow oin a gallery vs. the homepage. What is the "homepage" and where do I find it so I can move the photos there? Is it a special named gallery or what? Doesn't seem to affect FireFox or display in IE before now and I can see the show even though the operation abort message is displaying...

Ideas, suggestions?

Great appreciation in advance to you and all the others Grinners who help get us over these hurdles!!!

The slideshow page opens with no errors in IE6 here. Looks find in Firefox
and IE6.

This is the gallery where your slideshow is running.
http://redskeeter.smugmug.com/gallery/1260309
This is your homepage
http://redskeeter.smugmug.com

You want to place the show on your homepage instead of that gallery?

BTW, I don't understand this in your CSS.<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/headscratch.gif" border="0" alt="" > Sure it belongs there?

Planets aligned, site now working... thank you
Hi Al,

And thanks for looking so quicly. I am running IE 7.0.

Went back and tried the page again and seems to work fine... the usual IT fix worked it sems: "Close it, turn it off and then try again." Who know why it didn't work before, is working fine now.

Many thanks for the quick help!!! and I'll check into the CSS - did it when I was first learning CSS and frankly had no idea what the heck I was doing. Much wiser although dumber at this point with a lot more CSS expertise....

Again, thank you!

Best regards,

Well, I spoke too soon, tried it again just to be sure, and IE 7.0 wouldn't work. Worked, then didn't work. Same darn operation aborted message. I'll take a look at moving the pix etc.

Thanks for the help. No telling what's happening behind the scenes with all these moving parts.

If I remember you had stuff in a bunch of weird places. Like a bunch of CSS in
your footer. Nav stuff I think.

Barb, thanks; note the following posts after working with Al's suggestions. I now have it intermittently working in IE 7 sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Works fine in FF2.0. Am using 0.58 code too.

For all: I run the gallery by iteself on a separate dummy home page that I point people to from my DNS. That dummy gallery page has the slideshow container. I use the home page as the gallery page since it's easy to put the galleries out there.

Maybe you or Andy or Al can have another look.

And thanks to all who are helping unscramble this egg....

Well, the footer has a navbar there with the associated css for to make the footer menus display correctly; it also has some other external links etc. The css is in the css section for most of the site.

Hope this helps you a bit in understanding how I did the code.

Many thanks for helping me out!

I am having the same problem.
I cannot even go to smugmug.com!

Hello all,

For some reason, when I attempt to view my gallery

tedology.smugmug.com

I get the following pop-up error:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://tedology.smugmug.com

Operation aborted."

Any idea what's going on? I was able to view it earlier... (when I wasn't logged in as myself, but a guest). Then, when I logged in, edited a photo caption... and returned to the galleries main page, I got that error.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks much!

Ok folks, "most" of you are seeing this because you have a slideshow on your homepage. The simple fix is to use this code instead to launch the show (code is normally in your footer)
YE.onDOMReady(function() {
if (YD.hasClass(document.body,'homepage') && !YD.hasClass(document.body,'galleries')) {
loadSlideshow ();
}
});

Our new add photos button runs code when the browser is ready. The problem is that it runs in to other code that is running when it should not be. This is identical to the gallery problems with aborted pages a while ago. Those of you NOT running slideshow on your homepage. You can alter the above code and insert the JS that may be causing the problem:
YE.onDOMReady(function() {
// put your code inbetween here

// end here
});

I have already fixed a few of your sites, please reply to this post if you are STILL having issues and can't figure it out on your own and I will help you out :)

No access to mbc-photography.smugmug.com or www.smugmug.com
I cannot access anything to do with sugmug via I.E or Firefox. I am using Vista and IE7. It worked find yesterday afternoon and then last night and today, nothing. All other internet sites work fine.

Please help! I just uploaded a large gallery and sent out a ton of emails for possible sales and they are not going to retry the site later.

Hi Mike,

I checked your site and you do not have any customization that should cause this error. You said you cannot even get to smugmug.com? Are you able to today?

Thanks to this post, Al, and Barb slideshow now works
The key was the last post by mcolligon and JT's reply. I had to modify my code to include all of the code shown then make Al's changes to point to the gallery where the slide show pix are located instead of "hompage."

Thanks everyone!
