Sam I believe now that you can make payments via paypal without having to actually have an account, but using a credit card, but they may have to invoice you.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

    Big Update!
    Your response has been amazing!

The community of dgrin is coming thorough in true form!

I just got an update email from Chris
once I posted the Paypal email for payment to be sent to
things started to shift from pledges to actual donations.

So far, Chris and her family have now received $848.00 in donations
from the good people of this community. One of the donations is a whopping $300.00!!! Thank you so much!

(including the $1500 that they have already this brings things to about half of what they need)

I hope we can find even more ideas and ways to try and raise the rest for her so that she and her family can keep her house and her camera, if possible.

I am in awe at the generosity that we still have in todays world.
I too am honored that I am part of a community that bands together and helps, especially so close to the holidays, a time when we all seem to "need" the most.

Once again Thank You! on behalf of Chris and her family.

I just sent a payment. Cmurph, I'll be praying for you. After seeing the miraculous healing of my friends' 2-year old who suffered multiple skull fractures and brain damage last October, I KNOW God can help you out!

leaforte, Moogle Pepper, The Curious Camel, aktse, Tentacion, bham, GREAPER, kp-pix, Sam, Art Scott, xris, DJ-S1, LittleLew, Felicia and...
    many behind the scenes contributors.

Just responding to this thread with well wishes is very much appreciated!!!!

Chris (cmurph) has also been getting many PM's and emails as well that I do not even get to see and I'm sure they all are very much appreciated and helpful in relieving the stress that her family is in right now.

I just wanted to acknowledge that I realize many others all over the US and the world may also be in similar or worse situations and I wish each and every one of them some help.

Why did Cmurph get our help? There must be some reason. and I feel it was meant to be.

here is the PayPal email to send a donation to again: cmurphy@intergui.com
If all you can manage is to have Chris in your thoughts then please say so here so she will know.

    Thank you ALL again.

    A great Idea!
One of the dgrin members PM'd me with a really good idea...

Some folks may not have cash, but may have some cool accessories they may no longer use to donate. We as photographers are always looking for cool things to buy, lenses, filters, lighting, memory cards, flashes, etc... Our wish lists are miles long.

If someone wishes to donate an item to Chris for sale this is how I propose it should be done.

I will start a thread over at the "Flea Market" for people to post what they would like to donate and a suggested donation amount.
The first person willing to pay the suggested donation will then be awarded the chance to send the payment for the item to cmurph. Once the payment is verified the original donator will then donate the shipping of the item by mail to the person who made the payment.

This scenario relies on honesty of the donator to mail the item and the trust of the purchaser to wait for the item to arrive in the mail.

If it is a large or heavy item then a shipping amount can be suggested and that amount sent separately to the original donator. This might be the case for something like lights and stands etc...

Here is the Donation thread ----> http://www.digitalgrin.com/showthread.php?t=77158

let me know if you have a better way to deal with this idea
or if you have any other cool ideas.

    Thanks
    Sean

Count me in! My donation has just been sent through Paypal. Hang in there Chris! My job duties have recently been expanded to include working on real estate foreclosure transactions. It is very distressing (and not very satisfying) to me to deal with the growing volume of this side of the real estate market. My prayers are with you and your family. :saurora

The day is barely half over and...
Total donations have now broken past $1500.00

We are getting closer to the goal!

I have added a Donation button to the 1st post in this thread.
    http://www.sherstone.com/cmurph-donation.html

The preferred way to donate is to send funds to cmurphy@intergui.com
when logged into your PayPal account, but if you don't have an account or do not wish to sign up then please use the button.

Also remember that several dgrin members have donated some cool items like a flash, books, filter, tripod head etc.
For details check the equipment donations thread located here: http://www.digitalgrin.com/showthread.php?t=77158

I will thank you all every time I post because I cannot thank you enough!

You can now buy a bit of LPS SF3 History! and help the Murphy family at the same time.

Make sure you choose No-crop when purchasing for the best product.

    Thank you once again!

    update!
Your response so far have been amazing!
I can't thank you enough for your overwhelming generosity.

We are still very short of our goal - The Murphy family
is trying everything they know how to raise funds on their end too
but as it stands they need more to be able to make the total back payments of $4700 to the bank before November 30th or they will lose the house and what they have struggled to keep for many years.:cry

If you have already contributed, thank you!

    amazon gift certificates-
I just made a small donation - Wish I could do more, and hope it helps-

I also put some Amazon gift certificates ($50) up in the equipment thread-somebody needs to snatch 'em up!

I was just thinking, maybe someone wants to lease her camera from her for a couple of weeks -- going rate would be several hundred dollars, and it would beat her selling it :)-

Sean - You (and everyone who donated) are very kind-
