I've been commenting on the earlier entries... got time for just one more and I come to this one. Wow! I love it and agree with the post about it being worthy of large scale printing.

What I really think is interesting is the triptych treament you've given it. As powerful as this image is, I'm not sure it would be nearly as effective without the three panel presentation. This is a really good example of presentation as an integral part of making an image meaningful. Kudos on many levels.

    Thanks guys.

The best part of your praise, I thought the deer shot was my best one.

You know, I wouldn't disagree with you. That deer shot is really great--especially the light which is falling on the buck's face and antlers. (I also love his pal, blurred in the background.) It may be the better shot.

But the eagle shot caused an almost visceral response in me...I've rarely seen a shot of an eagle that struck me as much as that. I think it is because the eagle looks so large and powerful in the context of it background--Can you imagine those talons coming at you?

Were both of these taken in MN? Where, may I ask?

Dave - Fantastic shot of the eagle! Where did you take that one? It is stunning!

That depends on who you talk to.
I was in Illinois facing Iowa along the Mississippi river.
So I was in Illinois, the eagle was in Iowa. :D

Were both of these taken in MN? Where, may I ask?

The deer shot was in a Minnesota State Park near the twin cities.

The eagle shots are easy to get, if you know where and when to look for them. mwink.gif

(just for show and tell) and yes, this is a real photo, no birds where added to it.
    I came up with 95.

Davey can you post this image larger like you did the ones from the first posting? I like to use these for my computer backgrounds.

When I saw the deer shot my reaction was "excellent" then the eagle shot followed then my answer was "hey that's not fair" those are two excellent shots.

Were suffering a severe snow shortage in the Buckeye State so this will be interesting.

Right click on the shot, Open in new window, in the address line look for the capital "M", change M to an O, press enter.

No snow shortage here, we're in the midst of a storm that's going to dump about 15 inches.
Look for the Twin Cities on the national news tonight.:D

Thank you for the information and all though we won't get 15 inches they're forecasting a few inches here total tonight so we'll see what we can come up with. After cruising your site what is the location of the area where what looks like park rangers releasing eagles?

There's no doubt that the eagle is an amazing photo, but for my taste, the image of the deer holds my attention longer... a stronger overall image. Under any circumstance, the first two are terrific. The third one is merely "really good." clap.gif

WhatSheSaw - I like the color version better. To me, the deep blue sky and red canyon walls really standout against the snow. I've never seen Bryce in snow either and to me the color version really helps me see what it looks like in winter (I've only been in summer). Nice image.

aj - I love the sled ride! Nothing says "winter" like a romp in the snow.

Thanks, Bill! I originally planned to enter this picture into the Freeze or Flow challenge, but after I submitted it to the gallery I realized that, contrary to my memory, I had taken it a day BEFORE the challenge started. Darn! rolleyes1.gif I am often so busy that trying the meet the timeline for the dgrin challenges usually turns out impossible. I thought I'd made it this time! :D Oh well.

Thanks Lauren. We have no snow yet either, so I was trolling my archives. It's not eighty, though, and we've had torntial rains, flash flooding and gale force winds that have done more damage in the region than the last two hurricanes.

I like your Tracks in the Snow shot. Virgin snow is always fun to work with. You never know what you'll find.mwink.gif
