For those not able to see comments when logged out
Have you "unveiled" you site yet?
One of the heroes would have to verify whether this has any relevance or not, but I always see my comments, whether logged in or not. My site is "unveiled". Check my link below and view my GUEST BOOK page. I copied comments from my legacy GUEST BOOK gallery, and marked it as "unlisted", as I switched from a gallery to a page on new SmugMug. Works like a charm!

I looked at your guestbook and I only see the same tight window with a scroll bar on the side and two comments.

I see you are a fellow underwater photographer.
Cheers,
I went back to your site and after a few tries all of a sudden I could see all your comments. I closed and came back to your site and now I can not get them again.
Hey Paul, er, I mean Dave! Your comments look to be back now...I think maybe it just took time to bring them in, unless you didn't have the original gallery selected in the Block options?
Still the same issue Michael, seeing 2 different comments when logged in and out.

Hi Dennis,
Yes, we evidently share a love for underwater photography.
I am on Windows 7 and IE10, and don't seem to be able to reproduce your problem.
Didn't mean to confuse things.....from Sheaf's last post it sounds like they potentially on to a solution.
Using Mac laptop OSX version 10.6.8 and latest version of Chrome for Macs. Was I seeing your full comments? Ohhhh...a refresh to see comments. Is SmugMug not dealing with cache very well?
After many hours of work customizing... I "unveiled" this evening, only to find that my comments (listed as 'Raves' on my site) are also only visible when Logged IN. No comments when Logged OUT. Help!!
BTW, I love the new look & UI, but seriously missing Javascript initially -- but I have to say that I'm getting used to the makeover. Change is never easy, but this looks like a very good start on the new look. I'm sure there will be many new features and fixes along the way. As long as my customers have a rock-solid way to view, navigate and PURCHASE my pics -- I'm happy.
So, another person with the SAME logged in/logged out comment problem. Suggest both try killing your browser cache and see what happens per a comment above. It will tell us something!

No difference for me either. Tried Safari & Chrome via OS X... IE9 via Win7. No luck.
Whats the Scoop?
I just finished creating a 'guest book' page residing under my About heading. I asked my son to try leaving a comment as a test. He came back and asked if I could create one that did not require him to be logged in to SmugMug. That was what I was hoping I was installing.
I started a search on the topic and got to this thread. Seems related, but I am not sure.
Would someone let me know whether the 'guest book' function is undergoing some engineering to correct this problem(?) or if there is another guest book 'type' that doesn't require a visitor to login to SmugMug in order to leave a comment?

SM fixes guestbook comments
SmugMug has finally fixed the problem of comments from legacy SM from showing on New SM when one logs out. This is half of the problem fixed. The other half of requiring visitors to either log on with FB or SM is yet to be done. Here's the news. http://news.smugmug.com/
Thank you SmugMug for listening. Vox populi, Vox Dei!

You could upload one photo to the gallery and hide it. Also use it for the gallery image/thumb in the
folder view. If hidden photos can't be used for the feature photo use some CSS to hide the gallery
photos. This is what we did on the legacy site.
Or make a "page" instead, and import your comments to the page.
Thank you!!!!!

Hi James I thought I'd pass on that the main panel on you home page is empty. Can only see the left with the menu's and your banner.
That's a bug that Michael Bonocore is aware of. Thank you for looking out for me! :-D

I had to refresh on both your sites to see the comments.
